Mr R EDWARDS (OXLEY, QUEENSLAND) .- I wish to ask the Prime Minister whether it is true that whereas Mr. Croker informed the Government that the new mail steamers would proceed to Melbourne and Sydney, no such undertaking was given with regard to Brisbane.

Mr Deakin - I am in communication with the Quensland Government upon that point, and shall be prepared to lay on the table all the papers as soon as the negotiations have been completed.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
