Mr LIDDELL (Hunter) .- I have a suggestion to make in regard to the naming of the Hunter electorate. These names very often have old associations, which carry us back many years, and the Hunter River district was one of the earliest settled in the whole of the Colonies. It has always been known, as long as I can recollect, not as "Hunter," but as "The Hunter." To show how that idea is impressed on the people, I may state that an elector df mine the other day said he was of opinion that the letters "M.H.R." stood for " Member for the Hunter River." While I do not believe in double-barrelled names, but rather in shortening them as much as possible, I think it would be much more appropriate if this electorate were called "The Hunter."

Question resolved in the affirmative.
