Mr R EDWARDS (OXLEY, QUEENSLAND) - I am not able to vote for the amendment, because I do not think that we should legislate to prevent any man from spending his money. We have been legislating to prevent men from earning money, and now we wish to prevent them from spending lt. The honorable member complains about getting only a miserable ^400 a year, but he looks very well on it. He would be in a different position if he had a wife and a dozen children to keep. If a man is generous enough to contribute to cricket and football clubs, he should be allowed to give away as much as he likes.
