Mr EWING (Richmond) (VicePresident of the Executive Council) . - Perhaps the honorable member for Macquarie will make a statement.


Mr SYDNEY SMITH (MACQUARIE, NEW SOUTH WALES) - The Minister can announce what has been done.


Mr McCay - What is the arrangement?


Mr EWING - An arrangement has been arrived at that this debate shall be adjourned now-


Mr Henry Willis - This is a backdown on the part of the Government.


Mr EWING - Honorable members may take any view of the matter that they think fit. The arrangement is that the consideration of this Bill must be completed on Tuesday night, so that the Senate may be able to take it up on Wednesday. At the present time the other Chamber has no work before it. I am empowered by the Prime Minister to make this statement.
