Norwegian textile designers touring Australia may prove a boon for local yarn producers -

Now to a little yarn about the effort to bring Australia a little Scandinavian "cool".

Norwegians Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrison have come to these shores and are appearing before legion of fans who've driven across the country to hear the knitwear designers talk in Melbourne and Sydney this week.

No - they're not pop stars, the two men are textile designers and avid knitters.

Makers of Australian superfine merino yarn hope their cult following will help generate new markets for their product in Scandinavia, where knitting and wool is part of growing up.
