? Good evening. Taking you live now to Brisbane, where Liberal Senator Matthew Canavan is holding a media conference with Attorney-General George Brandis.I am seeking to obtain advice at present. On the basis of the advice the government has obtained, and that George outlined, it is not my intention to resign from the Senate. However, given the uncertainty around this matter, I will stand aside until the matter is finally resolved, and resign as a Minister for Resources and Northern Australia. I have informed the Prime Minister of that course of action. Thank you.

That is where we will leave that anticipated media conference, where it was confirmed that Matthew Canavan has resigned from the Senate, given that there are concerns - or some issues - over his citizenship. The suggestion there is that he comes from Italian descent. His mother is Italian.
