WA economy takes wooden spoon in national rankings - again -

View in ParlViewView other Segments

The Western Australian economy continues to be the worst performing in the nation.

CommSec's latest quarterly State of the States reveals the state will have to wait at least another 12 months before lifting off the bottom ranking.

At the other end of the scale, population growth and strong housing markets have helped the economies of New South Wales and Victoria remain on top.

The rest of the country's states and territories, say analysts, are still waiting for something of an "X-factor" to help drive their economies.
