SARAH FERGUSON: Welcome to Four Corners.

Donald Trump was swept to power on his promise to make America great again. And despite the turmoil that's engulfed his administration, he's still insisting he'll deliver on that promise.

During his campaign, Trump vowed to create 25 million jobs in 10 years.

A resurgence in jobs growth is already underway - in fact it started well before he came to power.

Eight years after emerging from the slump known as "the great recession", America has made a remarkable economic recovery - some even call it a miracle.

But as the recovery has gathered steam, inequity in the US has worsened, millions of workers have slipped into low-paid, part-time jobs, swelling the ranks of the working poor, while the American middle class steadily withers.

In this film by French film maker Helene Eckmann we'll meet some of the people who've fallen through the cracks, people who've come to believe that the American Dream is truly unattainable.
