Living for longer, but preventable disease on the rise -

People are living longer on average, but they're not necessarily in better health.

The Global Burden of Disease study, published in the Lancet journal today, shows life expectancy is increasing at a greater rate than what's known as the "healthy life expectancy" rate.

Put simply: people are spending longer periods than ever before living with illness and disability at the end of their lives.
