Federal Government to call for states to support national review of electricity system -

State and territory governments will be asked to sign up to a sweeping review of the national electricity market at today's meeting with the Federal Government.

The review would form the basis of an overhaul of the market to bring it up to date with modern technology.

Though there's agreement about the need to modernise the national grid, sparks could fly over the role of renewable energy and even who should conduct the review.
