With summer approaching, West Australians will again be contemplating whether its safe to go to the beach.

Just this week lifeguards closed Perth's Cottesloe Beach because of shark sightings.

Policy makers are continuing to grapple with the number of shark attacks in the state.

And today they've upset shark fisherman by confirming they won't re-open the metropolitan shark fishery.
