They'll perform live
in a major outdoor event.

Major, major. This is a landmark. Massive.

This will be big for you.Can we use that music, remember that? That will be good.Let's get the week started With a Seven News update. It is awful news.

Good morning. A dual Australian-UK citizen
is among 59 people confirmed dead from a terror attack in Kenya. 200 more have been injured.
49 are missing. Gunmen remain inside
a Nairobi shopping centre with an unknown number of hostages. I feel the pain
of every life we have lost and share your grief
at our nation's loss. My nephew and his fiance are amongst
those who died in this attack. Survivors say
the gunmen executed anyone who could not recite
an Islamic prayer. Militant group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility
for the attack. Former Queensland surgeon
Jayant Patel will face trial today for allegedly causing
grievous bodily harm to a patient. The 63-year-old served more than
two years in jail for manslaughter before the High Court quashed
his convictions last year. The case involving alleged victims
from Bundaberg Base Hospital has spanned more than a decade
and included government inquiries.

The entire board of the NBN
has offered resignations to Communications Minister
Malcolm Turnbull. It follows suggestions
the board lacks confidence in the Abbott Government to deliver
the infrastructure project. The coalition will deliver
a cheaper broadband plan that will require big changes
to contracts with telecommunication companies
and contractors. Mr Turnbull has previously
criticised the board for cost blowouts
and timetable delays.

Thousands of people
have been evacuated in South China after Typhoon Usagi made landfall. Hong Kong
escaped the brunt of the damage when Usagi changed track and instead hit a region
north-east of the city. Flights in and out of Hong Kong
remain grounded. The city's public transport system
has also been shut down.

Rolf Harris will front court
for the first time today on 13 child sex charges. It's expected
the 83-year-old entertainer will be asked to make a plea when he appears in London's
Westminster Magistrates' Court. Since his arrest, Harris has lost
his television show and sponsors while his paintings have been
removed from various galleries. Harris has previously denied
any wrongdoing.

Prince George is one step closer
to his first trip Down Under. William and Kate have reportedly applied
for their son's first passport ahead of a visit to Australia
and New Zealand next year. The Queen is expected to allow
the young royals to fly as a family even though royal protocol dictates an heir and the next in line
should not fly together.

, The Sunrise family had that in place. No, they didn't!

Coming up, Victoria police offer $100,000
to solve a cold case mystery. But first, here's Kochie. In finance news:

The Dow Jones will start the trading week down. European markets were down as well. To our region on Friday, we are down just 18 and 19 points on our major indisies.

Let's have a look at what we can expect from the markets. Craig James joins me from CommSec. What has got your blood running?I think that's probably a little bit extreme. There is not a lot happening over this week. Today we have got something very impressive named the Flash Manufacturing gauge out of chain. Because chain is so important to us, this is an important in this is an important in terms of our currency. That will be watched today. Nothing really out here in Australia today not really until Wednesday we when get the Reserve Bank Wednesday we when get the Reserve Bank with their review of the Australian financial system. On Thursday, we will get some population figures so we will see how fast the population is growing here in Australia and we will also get the financial accounts. They will reveal how much we are will reveal how much we Allworth, the financial wealth of Australians. It's also got some other indicators about how much foreigners hold of our stock market and our bonds. Basically there is a mismatch of figures, nothing really standing out.So it should be a quiet week in the lead up to the AFL Grand Final. We don't want to be distracted on that. distracted on that..This is right. Catch you in an hour. I left my iPad at home. I feelNo.Give him something.Would you like a ream of paper.Did you feel naked?I have a confession to make, we were talking about Brownlow Medal dresses during that. Is everything okay on the finance markets. It's foot. Not much finance markets. It's foot. Not news to report. What do you do on those days where you leave your iPhone or iPad at home? You go back it.Really, it just throws you out. Time for sport, now here is Beretts.

It clearly wasn't written on the iPad. I don't know what to do. You've lost your security blanket. Here is Beretts.Did the hand in the pocket thing. That looks something. That will keep me amused.

Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett
is the short favourite to take out AFL's
most coveted individual prize when the Brownlow Medal count
takes place in Melbourne tonight. Ablett has had 30 or more touches
in 13 games this season.

It would be his second medal. Geelong's Joel Selwood and Hawk Sam Mitchell are also expected to poll well. The count can be seen live
here on the Seven Network.

, It will be a great night tonight.

Brett Stewart remains
under an injury cloud ahead of Manly's NRL showdown
with South Sydney, the Sea Eagles full-back still
recovering from a hamstring injury which kept him out of the
weekend win over the Sharks. Meantime, Jamie Lyon, Steve Matai
and Anthony Watmough are all expected to recover
from injuries Australia has finished on the podium of both the men's and the women's
team time trials at the Road Cycling
World Championships in Italy, ORICA GreenEDGE finishing second to reigning champions
Omega Pharma-Quick Step, while our Orica-AIS women's team
finished third.

, That's a brilliant result for , That's a brilliant result Australia, to have both our teams on the podium with a silver and bronze. The armed guards at Armaguard will arrive at their headquarters this morning to pick up the locked cage holding the votes for the Brownlow Medal. So they will be under armed guard until tonight and they will be marched into the room. marched into the room..Who are the auditors. It's normally Pricewaterhouse.I've never been to a Brownlow Medal before. You are going to be on the edge of your seat for a long time. Are we for a long time. Are weIt will be good? It's huge. The great thing, Andrew Demetriou really gives it something when he reads out the votes. It goes for hours of reading votes, doesn't it?It flies. Andrew does it in such an entertaining way. It's think Hugh Jackman, opening routine Oscars, for three hours. That's Mr Hayden at the same time, Andrew Demetriou.Right.And there is champagne.I'm all right. We have to work to work tomorrow. All to work tomorrow. All girls head out the back until the last three rounds. We do have to get back to Sydney tomorrow. It's awesome.Just wait for tomorrow's show. I don't know how we are going to go. We know how we are going to go. We are going to have a very late night. Anything could happen. Eddy, good morning. Good morning, team. I am just trying to work out where you are?I will tell you. I am keeping an eye on you, we an eye on you, we are here at Luna Park. School holidays have started here in New South Wales. So we thought we would get together a whole bunch of kids. Good morning kids. They are not actually here yet. No fun waking up on your school holidays at 5 o'clock, to get here for 6 am. I said " for 6 am. I said "get here by 7. for 6 am. I said "get here by 7.30 or 6 o'clock, whatever time you make it here." They have got a new ride called House of Horrors. I will go on that myself before I invite any of on that myself before I invite any of the smaller kids on. It will be a lot of fun. Weather wise, southwest WA have really copped it over WA have really copped it overnight. Some wind gusts of 146khr. And Donnybrook near Bunbury, they have had about 186 mm of rain up to 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Some really severe weather over there. Let's look at the wider forecast.

You never get sick of waking up to that, do you? What an absolutely spectacular view and a cracker start to the week. Good morning, Monday. Thank you, Eddy.It looks gorgeous.

Coming up - the World War II veteran
setting records. He started skydiving
before any of us were born. And he's still a daredevil
on his 89th birthday. But next, Queensland doctor
Jayant Patel back in court. We have the latest on the case
live from Brisbane.

The others have mobile plans
that try to distract you...

..but up close, their networks
might not be what they seem.

It's the network that matters. And the Telstra
mobile network is Australia's largest
and most reliable with more
than double the 4G coverage
of anyone else. the 4G coverage So when it comes to
the latest smartphone, don't be fooled -
get it on Telstra, the network without equal.

My family's been going to
Macca's since forever and some things -
they never change. Dad - he'll always nick something. Hey! That's called theft. No, that's called subtraction. Mum will tell her stories. Watch your father. He's subtracted a fry from me
for the past 14 years. That's 728 fries
at one fry per week. And my little brother? Don't ask. There's something about all of us
going to Macca's that's just kind of...awesome. This is my family
and this is our Macca's.

I don't mind sharing Andy
with Colorbond. I'm constantly thinking of
new ideas. Here's an example, the jewellery,
which is sort of the Mayans here, but it's also very street. They go to the movies, they get back
and there's a basketball court.

I work with my hands. I'm a tool. It's basically the same as the
house, but we've brought it down. Like a big doll's house.
Not like a doll's house! It's fun. It's art.

My three kids, they love
having a bath together, but they finger paint with the soap so it takes forever
to get rid of the soap scum. I've always stuck
to the same old cleaners and I really hate how long it takes. I was asked to try
BAM Active Foam. I was amazed. The coverage was really wide and I loved how it puffed up
when it hit the shower screen. You can hear the bubbles fizzing
and eating the soap scum and the shower seemed
to stay cleaner for longer too. Try BAM Active Foam with Turbo Power.

Former Queensland doctor
Jayant Patel will face the Supreme Court
in Brisbane later this morning, charged with grievous bodily harm. Sunrise correspondent
Michelle Tapper is outside the court. Michelle, good morning. How long is the trial
expected to last?

Good morning, the trial is expected to last about three weeks. It's alleged that alleged that Jayant Patel when caused grievous bodily harm. The patient says he suffered grievous bodily harm. This is the second time that Jayant Patel is facing these changes. His previous conviction was overturned by the High Court. It is likely to be a pretty emotional day for the patient as he takes to the stand yet again.

Another big case in court today is
that of serial rapist Robert Fardon. He could be released back
into the community.

Yeah, that's right. Earlier this year, the judge ordered that Robert Fardon be released back into the community providing he lived on the grounds of the gaol and complied with some very strict supervision orders but the Attorney-General has overturned that. He wants another hearing into this because previously when Fardon had been released, he was recharged again with rape, while he was under very similar strict supervision orders. So we will hear from Fardon himself as well as a clinical psychologist and a psychiatrist as to whether he should be released be released. Back in 2003, he was handed an indefinite gaol sentence. We will have to wait and see. This should take a few days or at least the week, guys.Thank you, Michelle. We will check in again soon.

Now, coming up - if you don't like shopping,
avert your eyes now, because Sam and Nat are squeezing in
some retail therapy. Tonight, they're hitting
the Brownlow red carpet! And you may not video the bride.

, Don't say " , Don't say "squeezing in" and " , Don't say "squeezing in" and "shopping in the one sentence." Please move or I will stop.

Dami raised the roof
on 'The X Factor' last night. She scored her fifth straight
standing ovation and Ronan gave her a 10 out of 10. Another standing ovation
went to Taylor Henderson whose version
of a Cold Chisel classic was deemed his best performance yet.

It's getting hotter and hotter. Her voice, I tell you.How abouter i make-up?I must admit, she did look rockish. If if you are singing rock, you have to look rock. She may not have heard of Suzy quality row, just saying. That's not a rock look. What rock Chick would wear that? She was probably born after 1990. So Susie who?

An unfortunate typo
at Parliament House has caused a storm on social media. Glass name plates for Coalition MPs
have been put up. Now, the plate for Senator
Michaelia Cash has a mistake. It describes her as the

'Minister Assisting
the Prime Minister for Woman' instead of women. The awkward error comes after much
criticism of Tony Abbott's ministry, which only has one female.

That's quite funny, isn't it?It is. Tony will be " Tony will be "for God's sake."Can you imagine signwriter saying " you imagine signwriter saying "I'm going to have a bit of fun here." Anyone who works in Parliament House, no matter what job you do, they all have that political blood running through their vains, so put it down to the signwriter.

You may not believe it, but it turns out spending time with
your mother-in-law is good for you. A survey by Victoria's
Deakin University has found having contact with both
your mother and your mother-in-law will make you the happiest. Couples who see boths mums
once a week are happier than other
married people. And other benefits
of a close relationship include having two sources
of maternal support and two people who could help around
the house and with the children.

, So, let's hear your terrific mother-in-law stories.Yeah.You know, the best lawyer in law in Australia. Let's see if we can find that lovely lady out there. There are lots of lovely one, all of my boyfriends' mums, I've always got on by the mothers. That's because you haven't married them. The mothers also love me.They would to.I took my mother-in-law on a trip. Tray and I took the boys up to Port Douglas. It was great.I would imagine your life a lot easier if you married somebody's son, that would be hard for a mother to take.

And an angry priest
has stolen the show at a wedding. A bride and groom were left stunned when he went on a tirade
at photographers. Please, sirs leave,

What do you mean leave?Anywhere other than here. This is a solemn assembly, not a photography session. Please move or I will stop. I will stop the ceremony if you do not get out of the way.Look at the bride and Groom. The breast looks like the bloke with the pitchfork in the famous American painting.Yeah.That poor couple. Let us know - what's the most embarassing thing
that's happened at a wedding you've been to?

Involving a priest? The funniest thing at a wedding - have you had a sort of a Stern priest like that? Have you had a priest that sort of hose jobs went over like a lead balloon. Let's know the best priest stories at a wedding.I will try and think of somebody. When they get the names wrong.Yeah, that's fab just. Time for a Seven News update
with Nat. A dangerous stand-off continues
at a shopping centre in Kenya where 68 people have been killed,
including an Australian-UK national. More than a dozen gunmen
and at least one woman opened fire at a luxury mall
in Nairobi yesterday. Hostages are still being held inside
by the armed terrorists who have strong links to al-Qaeda. Sporadic gunfire
and at least one large explosion have been heard
in the past eight hours. Almost 200 people have been injured
in the attack. Former Queensland surgeon
Jayant Patel will stand trial at the Supreme Court
in Brisbane this morning. Patel is accused of causing
grievous bodily harm to a patient
during colon surgery in 2004. He was head of surgery at
Bundaberg Base Hospital at the time of the alleged incident. Patel was freed from prison
last year after the High Court overturned
a conviction against him. Victorian police will today
announce a $100,000 reward in a bid to solve
the cold case mystery of a missing teenager. Kim Teer was hitchhiking
around Australia when she disappeared in 1979. Detectives believe Kim was murdered and will offer the money to entice anyone with information
to come forward. They say someone knows something and they should do the right thing
to give Kim's family some closure. Rolf Harris is preparing to
face court for the first time today after being charged
with 13 child sex offences. UK correspondent Martin Frizell
is in London. Martin, good morning.
Will he enter a plea today?

It's possible but highly unlikely, Nat. This will be the most difficult day in his private and professional life. He is due at the Magistrate's Court on Monday morning. He charged with 9 counts of indecent assault on girls and four counts of making indecent images of children. That's believed to be downloading photographs from the Internet. If the magistrate decides that he can deal with it himself, he may well do so there and then. He will be referred to the Crown court. If he is found guilty there, the maximum penalty he would get would be ten years on each years on each count of those convictions. Bad news, kun order, the Cruize liner have also removed all Rolf Harris art works from their liners. They were giving a lecture onboard the Queen Mary, they have taken all those things away. They say it would not be appropriate to have roll of's art work on display. Thank you, Martin.

The wait is almost over for
One Direction fans in Adelaide. The first of three sell-out concerts
will be held tonight. is on One Direction watch
this morning. Good morning, Amanda. The boys' arrival has already tipped
some fans over the edge, I imagine?

We are in the grips of one direction fever here. The funny things is the girls cry and scream if they don't see them. They see them. They cry and scream if they do see them. It's just excitement all round. We think we have four of them here. Yesterday afternoon, it was Harry Styles who came in and the girls at the airport were so excited. And let's take a quick listen to what some of them said. I saw Harry in the car. So that was exciting. Are you crying because you are happy?Yes.We thought - we have finally seen our idols. It's hard to contain one self I know but we are trying to work out exactly where they are staying. Twitter is going mad. Are they in the bars onia, are they in North Adelaide, we are not quite sure where they are staying. The one place we know they will be is at the Entertainment Centre this evening. One of there and then on to Perth and around the rest of the country. We will keep you We will keep you posted if we spot any of them in any of them in the flesh. I was trying to read news, someone was trying to read news, someone tossing a lemon. What is with the tossing a lemon. What is with lemon? So I've got something do with my hands. Let's go to the iPad.I couldn't work it out.I have left it at home. I feelWhy did you leave it?I don't know. I just dashed out. I was running late.

In finance news:

Because finished down. European markets off as well. Take a breather after a pretty after a pretty tumt week last week. To the come To the Cometti oddities.

Sfwl auction clearance rates for the weekend, the Sydney auction clearance rate, 86% clearance rate, 86%. Remember we have got auctions doubled last weekend from the previous weekend, Melbourne 80% Melbourne 80%. This time last year, auction clearance rates in both major capital city, 60% major capital city, 60%. They are just not slowing down, are they? No, When it will end? It's just sort of started.Oh.Let's not wish for the end.Howlong can it end.Howlong can end.Howlong end. started.Oh.Let's not wish for the started.Oh.Let's not wish for how hot can it be for Howlong?Up go the interest rates if the Reserve Bank think it's too hot.Do you want to pass that lemon on to Geelong as a sort of Geelong...That was harsh. That cut to the bone.He was predicting we might give him a hard time. I thought we might have to do it.I made need it when we get to the footy tips.

Fremantle isn't concerned
about being outsiders when the club meets Hawthorn in
the club's first ever Grand Final. The two sides haven't met since the
Hawks beat the Dockers in Round 4 but after a huge win over the Swans, the Dockers are confident
they can cause an upset. We'll be asking questions
of Hawthorn with our defensive pressure
all over the ground, which hopefully they haven't seen
this year. Freo defender Luke McPharlan has
no concerns about his injured calf. Manchester City
has surprised everyone, thrashing Man United 4-1
in the English Premier League. Yaya Toure put city up 2-0
at half-time, the lead doubling to 4-0
just five minutes after the break. Meantime Arsenal and Tottenham the Gunners with a 3-1 win
at home over Stoke, while a goal in stoppage time
helped the Spurs escape from Cardiff with a 1-0 win.

It's been a disastrous
Singapore Grand Prix for our Aussie F1 drivers. then Mark Webber's car caught fire
on the final lap in the race. To make matters worse, Webber was also penalised for hitching a ride back to pit lane
with Fernando Alonso. Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel
took out the race for the third consecutive year.

That's how your mates get you home sometimes? Why was he penalised for that. It's illegal. There is a degree of danger to it, sitting on the edge of a Formula One car. You know when you are a kid, and you get out and open the gate, and you run and they drive off and you run to catch up.

Time to check the footy tips. In the AFL preliminary finals, the girls correctly tipped the Hawks
and the Dockers.

, That's beautiful, can we get that framed?

While the boys didn't pick
either result. And in the NRL semi-finals, the girls correctly tipped
the Sea Eagles. And the boys got the Knights right. So the girls now have
an unbeatable 9-point lead.

The season is not done yet. What are we doingHave you brought us a present yet?No, anything could happen from here.Have you started about thinking what you might get us?Do triple points for the grand final. No, we have fought hard this season, we are hot going to just give it away. You are exhausted from your football tipping effort. Who is the captain of Freo?I know Ross Lyon is the coach. That's good. That will do, Nat. He is doing a very good job.He is doing a great job.

Now to today's weather.

,Start of school holidays in Sydney. The dodgems, they are my favourites. It's a well known fact that kids love school holidays and parents always moan and grown. Here on the Sunrise weather team, we put a call out to the Sunrise office, including your kids as well and said " including your kids as well and said "come down, we'll babysit for the first day of the school holidays." They start in other states as well next week. So we are down here at Luna Park just being big kids and having a pretty good time. It's a pretty good way to start the week. Let's take a look at your

A trough crossing eastern Victoria
and southern New South Wales is triggering a few showers
and storms. A high in the east is directing
showers and the odd storm onto Queensland's Central Coast. Warm northerly winds are being
drawn into South Australia ahead of the front and trough.

I wouldn't normally recommend reading while you are driving. It's about 33 and 34 ray round Broken Hill and Mildura today and those temperatures will head into Brisbane later on this week. So you are in for a really hot week there. See you for a really hot week there. See you in half an hour, if I survive.Thank you, Eddy.

This week, our friends at Accor

Still to come - the national broadband network
in disarray with its entire board
offering to quit. Plus, the Hawks or the Dockers? Who will win this week's
Grand Final?

(GENTLE PIANO MUSIC) VOICEOVER: Why do we save
our good stuff for 'some day' and keep beautiful things hidden
in cupboards gathering dust?

I'll do something good for me"? So don't wait for some day -

Start with the best tea there is.

Twinings - enjoy every day.

A dual Australian-British national
is among at least 68 people killed in a terrorist attack on a shopping
mall in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Another Australian,
Sarah Williamson, was also caught in the drama. She's the former girlfriend
of Carlton skipper Mark Murphy. Sarah and her father barricaded
themselves in the back of a shop. They remained there for six hours until Kenyan troops
secured the floor they were on. Sarah has told her mother in
Melbourne she's so glad to be out. Kenyan troops are continuing
an operation against the Somali militants who are still holding hostages
inside the shopping mall. Our foreign editor Dr Keith Suter
joins us from Brisbane. Keith, what do we know
about the Al-Shabab rebels who have staged this attack?

The Al-Shabab terrorist group operates in somebody articleia, they have been operating theretofore some years. The Kenyan government have carried out rates to try to stop them getting into them getting into Kenya. They see this attack as a reprisal for the actions taken by the Kenyan government. The war against al-Qaeda started 15 years ago in Kenya. When the then al-Qaeda movement attacked the American embassy which is down the road from where we are looking at this current siege. What we are looking at then is a continuation of an Islamist struggle. This time people in somebody articleia have moved across into Kenya and by killing foreigners, you get a lot of interest national media coverage.

Kenyan forces are getting assistance from Britain, the United States
and Israel. Will that only be advice
or could foreign troops be involved?

No, I think the Kenyans would want to do the rescue raid themselves but they are getting a lot of assistance as you say, from these other governments. But at the end, it has to be a Kenyan operation. If you bring in white people to do the work for for the Kenyan government, that will add to the propaganda, it will have to be a Kenyan raid but with a lot of advice from the others.

Here is Kochie.

It's the business end of the season
for the NRL after a big weekend of footy action. The defending premiers
are out of the race after going down to the Knights
by 2 points on Saturday night while Manly won a controversial
and brutal encounter with the Sharks 24-18 on Friday night to continue their charge
towards the Grand Final. Rebecca Wilson and Beretts are here
for further insight ahead of this week's
preliminary finals. Morning to you both.

Let's start with Friday night.

..A little bit of calm wra there, Cronulla got Cronulla got by the skin of their teeth. I think the same happened on Friday night. Basically, the lenler hastened up in Karma land, I would say. The best team win. AHow can you say that that was a try? That was a try.I was dumbfounded?I was a try.I was dumbfounded?I kept watching, and wondering if I was looking at a different monitor. It looked clear.Manly were dead on their feet for the last ten minutes of that game. Very lucky to get away it.The whole refereeing system needs an overhaul. The video referee woe you are getting mistakes like that, this is the top that, this is the top level of competition. The decisions have to be right. They be right. They have to be spot on. They will run out of referees if they suspend these ones as well. This is meant to be the pointy end. You've only got 22,000 people in an all Sydney encounter and you've got disappointment.Manly virtually hob willed off. They are up against the Rabbitohs, how big a toll will this have on thechl? They are an awe sum football side. Don't underestimate Jamie Lyon to get back on the field. I stainless steel believe that I stainless steel believe that the rash it's will out class them, having a week out. There is a lot of on the line. History Bec ons for the rabbits. I think they will probably - Manly will run out of puff.Does his ri beckon for Knights as well? That was Goodwin? This is fairly That was Goodwin? This is tale sort of stuff. Where did they come from. It come from. It is classic Wayne Benet. He has formed these guys into an army that just don't know when to stop. It's fantastic and great for Knights fans who are watching this. Their first win against a top side four all yearThey come good at exactly the right time. Melbourne went off at exactly the wrong time. Melbourne went off at exactly the wrong time. Melbourne haven't been great for six or seven weeks. I have been saying their number is up. Finally it was up. But the Knights can beat anybody. They have got Danny, they are riding on emotion. Danny in his last year of footy. They have Willie Mason who is playing the best footy I have ever seen him play. You know what, Willie Mason said he has never played in a team that has tried so hard until the last hard until the last second of the game. This is culture beating strategy. Let's talk about the Swans Freo. Freo, Freo, awesome. Saturdays night. They night. They are dazzling. They are so intimidating. so intimidating..They monstered the Swans at game the Swans have Mastered. So it wasn't like they were playing different footy. Whenever you looked at the ball, there were six there were six Freo players on there were six Freo players on the ball and no Swans players on the ball. They got them, towered them out of the game. And powered them out of out of the game. They can win the comp. They are fast, they are young, they enthusiastic particular. You only start to put it down on paper. I must admit when I looked at Hawthorn and Geelong, I thought only the Hawks can get this done. I think Freo have a good chance.Playing like a team possessed.

Thank you, both.

There's a big controversy brewing
ahead of the ceremony and it involves a tribute to
the late 'Glee' star Cory Monteith?

Yeah, that's right. You know, we always see this Mon tardge of stars we have lost over the last 12 months, they are doing a special tribute to five stars, including Cory Monteith. This has raised a few eyebrows, the editor of 'variety 'mention. And people like Larry Hagman, Jack including man, he won three Emmys. His family is very disappointed saying that Cory Monteith shouldn't get this special tribute.I can see their point.JR Ewing deserves attribute for goodness sake.

There's a dearth of Australian
nominees at the Emmys this year but we're represented

That's right. Jessica Mauboy, she has a massive night here. She will be walking the red carpet soon. She is going to be performing at is going to be performing at the Governor's Ball. That has 15 nominations. It was quite gay.Even nominations. It was quite gay.Even so.It was about a gay person.Isn't that a reflection of American society?Yes.That they thought, it's too gay for people to go and pay at the movies so they will just whip it straight on TV.That's bizarre. That's really bizarre.I was quite proud of us for us. The top stories now on Sunrise - Breaking overnight - an Aussie citizen dead
in a Kenyan shopping centre attack. But a Melbourne woman
escaped the gunmen and she's telling her story
this morning. The Queensland surgeon
defends charges in court. Plus, why tonight's medal count
is poised to go down to the wire and why the WAGs
will steal the show.

Also, the stakeout for the boy band ahead of their first
Aussie performance. And the next international star
headed our way will be revealed on Monday 23 September 2013. (SONG) # Reach out for the sunrise # Reach out for the sunrise. # Right across Australia,
this is Sunrise on Seven. Now, live from Brekky Central,
Kochie and Sam.

Hello again. The day has come to reveal the global megastar
coming to our shores. They'll perform live
in a major outdoor event. The big announcement is this hour
here on Sunrise. But right now,
it's time for an update from Seven News with Nat. Good morning. An Australian
is among the 68 people killed during a terror attack
at a Kenyan shopping centre. A tense stand-off continues
this morning. Hostages remain
trapped inside the building by armed and dangerous militants. Kenya is fighting a war tonight. Troops sent into a shopping mall-
turned-battlefield

where the fighting and the dying
might not yet be over.

Every few hours a new hostage emerges. This us must have been terrifying. It was terrifying, trust terrifying. It was terrifying, me. I saw a guy who was killed in front of me. It's very unfortunate, I was frightened for my life.

Even the President
is mourning loved ones today. My nephew and his fiance were amongst those
who died in this attack. The shopping centre is a few
hundred metres down the road. A few times today,
we've heard bursts of gunfire followed by hours of silence. No-one, not even the authorities, can truly tell precisely
what's happening inside there. There are dozens more dead. Hundreds injured
after yesterday's attack. The list of the victims grows
as hopes for the missing fades. Former Queensland surgeon
Jayant Patel will face trial today for allegedly causing
grievous bodily harm to a patient. The 63-year-old served more than
two years in jail for manslaughter before the High Court
quashed his convictions last year. The case involving alleged victims
from Bundaberg Base Hospital has spanned more than a decade and included government inquiries. The entire NBN board
has reportedly quit following reports
it doesn't have the support of Communications Minister
Malcolm Turnbull. Mr Turnbull has previously
criticised the board for cost blowouts
and timetable delays under Labor. The coalition is preparing
to make massive changes to the broadband rollout. It's understood former Telstra boss
Ziggy Switkowski could be appointed the new chairman. The Abbott Government will deliver
its first weekly briefing on illegal boat arrivals today. The first asylum seeker boat
to arrive under the government's
blackout protocol docked at Christmas Island yesterday with up to 30 people on board. Labor says
the increased secrecy is a disgrace. The Coalition claims
it will help starve people smugglers of important information. Australian entertainer Rolf Harris
could be asked to enter a plea when he fronts a London court today
on 13 child sex charges. It's the 83-year-old's
first court appearance since being charged last month. Harris faces nine counts of indecently assaulting
two teenage girls in the 1980s, along with four counts
of making indecent images of a child in the first half of 2012.

Popular boy band One Direction
will kick off their Australian tour with a sell-out show in Adelaide
tonight. Sunrise correspondent
Amanda Bachmann is on 1-D watch.

Helped by her children on the research front. Do we know what they are up to?Yes, I did have to get a little bit of help but I think I'm set now. Here is what I think they are up to today. Rumor is saying they are staying up at the bars onia at the Novotel hotel. Girls, don't rush there. Don't even give it a chance. If I was there not, I would probably do some wine probably do some wine tasting and consider this, Harry Styles has just come here from the US. He is 19. Can't drink there legally, can drink here legally. So probably wine tasting in the Barossa valley, rumor has it, they will go to the zoo, perhaps check out our Giant pandass. It sounds like an accident day planned. They have been scattered all over the world. Niall is still in Melbourne, for example, they will come here to the even statement centre. They should have some sort of a rehearsal. And let me tell you in about ten hours time, this place will be full of screaming girls. I've witnessed a Justin Bieber concert, I couldn't hear for the next five next five days, there are five members so the screaming factor will be phenomenal. We are glad you are on the case.

Coming up,
some big news for Aussie Rules fans heading to the Grand Final
at the MCG. But first, let's check finance.

One D are sharp, remember we had the Accor deal for the Barossa. They got in there. They got the special rate with the late check out.And a bottle of wine.

II left my iPad at home so I'm using different props.

Now, let's have a look at what we
can expect this week on the markets. Craig James joins me from CommSec. Morning. Craig, what are you expecting
this week?

I haveI've got my iPhone over there. We can lend you one Fu want. In terms of what we In terms of what we can look out for today, we have got the Chinese manufacturing gauge which is out today. So that's important because chain is our major trading partner. We have got some earnings results, Cat man due is coming out with its earnings results and David Jones on Wednesday. Apart from other economic data here in Australia. We are pretty light on. We have got the financial stability review, that is coming out on Wednesday, on Thursday, we have got the population figures and the financial accounts. Financial accounts, they don't sound very sexy but they detail our financial wealth here in Australia. Give us an assessment how well we are travelling. So there is a mismatch of figures over the week but overall, I think pretty clear saling until the grand final on Saturdays with Fremantle to win. That's what we want. I'm With You, I tipped Freo quite a while ago. Time for sport, here is Beretts. There I be an old connection with Ross Lyon.

Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett
is the short-priced favourite to take out AFL's
most coveted individual prize when the Brownlow Medal count

in 13 games this season. It would be his second medal. Geelong's Joel Selwood
and Hawk Sam Mitchell are also expected to poll well. The count can be seen live

A dual Australian-British national is among at least 68 people
killed in terrorist attack on a shopping mall
in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Another Australian,
Sarah Williamson, was also caught in the drama. She's the former girlfriend
of Carlton skipper Mark Murphy. Sarah and her father barricaded
themselves in the back of a shop. They remained there for six hours until Kenyan troops secured
the floor they were on. Sarah has told her mother
in Melbourne she's so glad to be out. Kenyan troops are continuing
an operation against the Somali militants
who are still holding hostages inside the shopping mall. ITN reporter Rohit Kachroo
is in Nairobi.

The sound of proceedingss and fresh good afternoon tonight, helicopters have been circling overhead through the evening. Earlier today, a government officials were speaking about the need to neutralise the terrorists saying they had a plan. What we don't know what whether that's the plan that we have been listening to. What we do know is al-Shabab have been increasing with increasing defines today through the bizarre medium of their own Twitter account. Counter officials say that they are trying to counter they are trying to counter that offensive today. We know that they now have the support of foreign counter-terrorism officials including some from the UK.

Rohit Kachroo there in Nairobi. Former Queensland doctor
Jayant Patel will face the Supreme Court
in Brisbane later this morning, charged with grievous bodily harm. Sunrise correspondent
Michelle Tapper is outside the Court. Michelle, good morning.

How long is the trial
expected to last?

Well, we are expecting the trial to last about 3 weeks. Obviously they have a lot of evidence to go through. It's alleged that jaichbt Patel, caused Ian Patel, caused Ian Vowles grievous bodily harm after removing his colon. Mr Vowles claims that he suffered multiple medical problems as a result of the surgery, including impotence and he then had to go on and have two further corrective surge Rhys. This will be the second time that Ian Vowles will be involved in a trial like this, as well as Patel because his previous conviction was overturned by the High Court. The surgery took place back in 2004 while Jayant Patel was the director of surgery at Bundaberg Base Hospital. This whole ordeal has been going on for almost a decade for patients who believe they were harmed by Dr Patel.

Another big case in court today is
that of serial rapist Robert Fardon. He could be released back
into the community.

Yeah, he was ordered to be released earlier this year as long as he stayed on prison grounds in accommodation they accommodation they have got set up and that he complied with some very strict supervision orders. But the Attorney-General overturned that. He says he wants another hearing. The judge will hear from Fardon, a clinical sigh Colonelist as well as a psychiatrist to see if he is ready to be released into the public. In 2003, it was declared that he should stay in gaol indefinitelily but he was released half a dozen years ago and while he was under similar strict supervision orders that he has been required to undergo now, he was then charged with rape again. So, it's a pretty notorious case here in here So, it's a pretty notorious case here in Queensland, so we will just have to wait and see to find out what happens during this hearing. All right, Michelle, thank you for that. Here is

Another business has cut
its connections to Rolf Harris. The Australian entertainer's artwork has been removed from galleries
on board luxury ocean liners, including the 'Queen Mary 2'. It comes as he prepares to front
court for the first time in London after being charged
with child sex offences. The 83-year-old faces 13 counts, including the production
of indecent images. UK Correspondent Martin Frizell
is in London. Martin, good morning. What has the cruise company said?

Well, these are bits of art feels. Not just Rolf Harris. People who go on the ships, they on the ships, they are Cruize ships like to see, they have said they have to take them away. The reason why because of the charges that have been laid against Rolf Harris. They stayed in a

clearly, if Rolf Harris is cleared of all those charges, then they fully - we would fully expect that they would put them back up. There is more bad news. He did a very fray must portrait of the Queen for her 80th birthday. That has gone missing. Nobody seems to know where it is. No-one wants to it is. No-one wants to own up to any of Rolf's art at the moment.Okay.

Rolf faces a London court
later tonight. What's expected to take place?

It will be the most difficult day of his personal and professional life when he turns up in a few hours time at Westminister Magistrate's Court. The same sort that Julian Assange turned up at. Rolf Harris as you said is facing serious charges. He is facing nine is facing nine counts of indecent assault, four girls of making indecent images of children last year. That could mean downloading images from the Internet. He is not expected to make any ple May tomorrow, he will confirm his anyone and address and the charges will be read out. In these kinds of cases where serious with children involved, he will be committed to the Crown court where he will then give his May either or not guilty. It has to be said, nothing officially during all this procedure since last November, he through friends is making it quite clear that he veer hently denies all of these allegations. So expecting a not guilty May there by the sounds of things. Thank you, Martin. Talk due

The countdown is on
to the AFL's Brownlow Medal. It kicks off a week which culminates
with the Grand Final at the MCG between Hawthorn and Fremantle. Sunrise correspondent Nick Etchells
joins us from the 'G with some big news for fans. Morning, Nick. What's the news?

There is. 10,000 people will be allowed on to the ground after the grand final. That's ten times more than last year. The AFL obviously thought that was a kinner. So some of them will be fans who don't even have grand final tickets. They are of course, they will be able to watch the live music performances and fireworks and medal presentations there. So, the grounds keeper I am will sure will be having kittens watching that but the fans will love it.Hang on. If you are not going to be there how are they going to let them on? You just turn up at the gate and run through the race sort of race sort of thing.I am not sure how they are deciding who is going to come on and how they are managing it. But they have said that some fans who don't have grand final tickets will be allowed to come on to the ground.I will check in them at the president's meeting tomorrow. News on that tomorrow.

Now, onto the Brownlow. Gary Ablett's favourite
for the medal tonight but there are a couple
of other players in contention?

We have got some very interesting movements in the betting, particularly over the last few days. So Gary Ablett is everyone's favourite. He is at $ favourite. He is at $1. favourite. He is at $1.68. Now, Joel Selwood is second place, $ Selwood is second place, $5. Selwood is second place, $5.25. But the real story in the betting at least is Sam Mitchell. He was $ least is Sam Mitchell. He was $21 a week ago. He is has moved to $ week ago. He is has moved to $5. week ago. He is has moved to $5.50. They are saying that maybe he might be in second position by the time the voting starts but Centrebet says that since Friday, 90% of the Betts they have taken have been on Sam Mitchell zblchlt gee. While it's a big night for the players, the papers are giving us a prea view of what the partners are going to be wearing. Always a highlight? It's that week. We have got girlfriends in gowns. I think you've got some pictures of Taylor Wilson, Dane Swan's girlfriend. She is a long time veteran of the red carpet there. She is wearing a red dress but just a little special. She will be wearing a white gown from the wedding dress maker, Helen Emmanuel. Take from that what you will. Dane, what is the story there? But, yeah, obviously, look, it's about the football but most people are tuning in to watch the dresses on the red carpet, if we are honest.Nat and Sam will be there in Sam will be there in their finest. Sam, are you getting excited. Yes, I am getting a am getting a little excited. I am a bit excited when I see those girls. I haven't even had my names done. Imagine what Mrs Koch is feeling today. But of course she will be gorgeous.I have never been to a Brownlow Medal about. Bring it

Let's go back
to the Emmy Awards red carpet. Our US correspondent Angela Cox
is there. Good morning. Seen any stars yet?

Not yet. The carpet hasn't quite opened yet. They have just cleared us off the red carpet. It will be interesting this year. It will be a real star-studded affair, because of the stars of the small screen, we are seeing a lot of Hollywood actors, crossing over. So we have got some big names, Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Kev Michael Douglas, Kevin spacy so it should be quite a show.'Mad Men' show, Don ham is throwing a party for all the losers. What is that about?I just love this. He has been nominated 1 times for an - - 11 times for an Emmy. He times for an Emmy. He mate, Kristen Wiig, they all sat around and called it the losers lounge. They said they are going to do it for real. Apparently they are hosting a losers' party, they losers' party, they are also inviting the winners but the winners have to pay $ have to pay $1,000 to get in which will go to charity.

Industry experts are singling out
one show as the favourite today?

'breaking bad'. Forbes magazine named it the best television show of all time. Everyone is looking to this show. Brian is the star, he has won three Emmys in the past. He is tipped to win again this year to make it four. Also the show make it four. Also the show could take out best drama. It will have some competition from 'the House of Cards'. That would be the first Internet based show to win best drama.'house of Cords drama.'house of drama.'house of cards' is so good. Why are people angry about a tribute to the delight 'Glee' star, Corey Monteith? We also see this Mon tardge of the stars who have passed away. This year they are having a special one which singles out, five stars, including Cory Monteith. Variety magazine has criticised that saying he simply didn't have the body of work to justify that special mention, especially when other actors who actors who seem to have much longer or successful career like Larry Hagman and Jack including plan. So there are a few eyebrows being raised about that. The raised about that. The producers say to his fans, he was huge. For them, it would be a sacrifice if he wasn't on the list.Okay. I sort of gets the others' point, can't you. Thank you, Ange, we will check in with you very shortly. You look gorge just.

And an angry priest
has stolen the show at a wedding. A bride and groom were left stunned when he went on a tirade
at photographers.

Please, sirs, leave. Please.Where do you want us to leave?Anywhere other than here. This is a solemn assembly, not a photography session. Please move. Or I will stop. I will stop the ceremony if you do not get out of the way.

There is the model on the day.Nat, you left a long tie. Some guy tied it for mere.$ it for mere.$2,000 for charity we got for charity. Isn't that fantastic? Our big announcement

let's get a news hit with Nat. The Kenyan army
is trying to end an intense siege at a Nairobi shopping mall where at least 68 people
have been killed, including
an Australia-UK dual citizen. The army says

most of the hostages inside the
luxury shopping centre in Nairobi have been rescued. Around a dozen gunmen
and at least one woman with strong links
to terrorist group al-Qaeda are still inside. The terrorists wrote on Twitter, "There will be no negotiations
whatsoever at Westgate" before shutting down the account. Former Queensland surgeon
Jayant Patel will stand trial in Brisbane today over allegations he unnecessarily
removed the colon of a patient. It allegedly happened
while Patel was director of surgery at the Bundaberg Base Hospital. The trial is expected to run
for around three weeks. It's hoped a $100,000 reward will help solve the disappearance
of a New South Wales teenager. Kim Teer was hitchhiking
around Australia when she disappeared 34 years ago. The 17-year-old from Port Macquarie was last seen in East Melbourne
in September 1979. Detectives believe Kim was murdered. They hope the cash
will provide new information and closure for Kim's family. Hong Kong has narrowly avoided
a powerful typhoon, which is believed
to have already killed two people as it lashed the Philippines. Thousands of people
have been evacuated in South China after Typhoon Usagi made landfall. Hong Kong escaped
the brunt of the damage but flights in and out of Hong Kong
remain grounded. The city's public transport system
has also been shut down.

Man United 4-1. The Spurs got themselves to the top
of the championship ladder with a goal in stoppage time
against Cardiff, while the Gunners are also on top
after a 3-1 win over Stoke.

And a rough night in Singapore
for our Aussie F1 drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber both failing to finish
