But it's a busy morning in news - so we'll do as we always do, and begin this Friday
with a Seven News update from Nat. A toddler has died in a house fire
in South-East Queensland. The blaze broke out
in a single-storey home at North Toowoomba last night. Four children escaped suffering smoke inhalation. But a 2-year-old boy
was trapped inside. There has been a deceased child
located within the premises. A crime scene has been established and investigations
are being conducted to establish a cause of the fire. The childrens' parents
weren't home at the time. It wasn't the only fire tragedy
overnight. Two people died in a house fire
in Melbourne. It's believed a man and a woman
were trapped in a home at Deer Park. Two men escaped the flames
and were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation. Still in Melbourne, a carpet factory has gone up
in flames causing millions of dollars
in damage. The blaze lit up the night sky
in Dandenong South sparking an emergency warning
for nearby homes. Residents were told to stay inside
and close windows and doors, because of toxic fumes.

It took 150 firefighters several
hours to extinguish the blaze.

A 21-year-old man has been charged over the stabbing murder
of a Sydney father in front of his children. Cheyne Duncan was attacked with
a machete at Doonside on Wednesday. Detectives walked the suspect
through the crime scene last night in a bid to establish
what led up to the violent brawl. He'll appear in court today. West Australian Premier
Colin Barnett has reignited the GST debate, calling on Tony Abbott to consider
lifting the tax rate. It comes after the state lost
its AAA credit rating. One of the tough jobs
Tony Abbott is going to have is to step up to the plate and take
some leadership on the Federation. I'm sure he doesn't want to do that, but I don't think
he's going to have much choice. Before the election,
the Coalition ruled out any changes. Long lines have formed outside

The All-Ordinaries
hit record highs yesterday. Craig James is at Commsec
with the details.

Morning, Craig. What caused this
and what does it mean?

Well, Kochie, I suppose what we can do is we can thank the United States but thank Ben Bernanke. He decided to stoke up the fires a little bit more, continue to print money so the All Ords accumulation index, not just share prices, but different ends hit record highs since November 2007. I suppose over time, what we can do is credit the can do is credit the performance of our economy. Our economy has continued to grow and also the Australian companies have continued to pay out sort of new dividends and their share price has gone to highs. There were a number of people who can take credit but overall, Australian shareholders ors or anyone with superannuation should be celebrating today the fact that we are at record highs. When you consider over the last 4. consider over the last 4.5 years, total returns on shares have basically doubled in that period of time. That's sort of an mazing pumps in a very short space of time.Thank you, Craig. Catch you within an hour. It's like 'The Brady Bunch'. It'sI the sure I wasn't - I like a bit of movement in the finance. You've played your point. It gives other people a bit of movement too. Time for

On Saturday it's the Storm
against the Knights. Jim, Newcastle really are
a dark horse here. They're peaking at the right time,
aren't they?

They won in Melbourne since 2004. They have got speed out there, experience, I think they can bet the storm. I - they are my dark horse. They have got momentum. They were good against the Bulldogs last week. The good against the Bulldogs last week. The storm have just been a little bit different in the last month. The nights for me.When they step up with their big stars, they are almost waiting to hit Top Gear. The storm would certainly like to think so. I like the battle of the coaches in this one, up against each other. And the Arsenal of players in both teams. I think this is set to be a great contest but...Both teams with that coaching structure are really set up for the finals, aren't they? They have the two wise old men of rugby league.?It's certainly like the ray Prentice and the martyr. Bellamy is a great coach in his own right. Benefit has been there and done it. I think this will be a great night, I would love to see them do it for Danny. I am a big fan of Danny. I think that - I know they haven't won there since 04 but I've got a feeling. Lnchts we are mopping that Beretts. We have tipped, this. I was trying on work out why you were propping them up owe. were propping them up owe..The Sydney Swans taking on the Dockers. I reckon if the Swans win this game, it will have to go down as one of the great wins in the history of this club. this club..They were curious last week against my boys.So many injuries.A lot of injuries. 7 of their grand final team, they have now lost Kurt Tippett. Gary Rohan goes into the side and Ben Mac Cleine, the Swans are a great side. They have got great belief. Had the week off, Pavlich, Sandilands, the anything letters. You no he, anything letters. You no anything letters. You anything letter nigglers. I'm going the Swans.I think you are right. Everything on Fremantle says Fremantle, they have had the week off but the Swans just have a way of doing this. It's when they step up and work together as a team. They just get it down. The Kennett curse will win tonight. Hawthorn will win. Into chance. No cap meant. All guide.I reckon Freo will win the grand final? That's my prediction. That's a big one. I will leave it there. We will get a hit from the seven news room next and the kids who could be chalking up fines for drawing on the footpath. Putting the high in high school musical. Three people are dead A man and a woman were killed
as flames engulfed a Melbourne unit while a blaze in Toowoomba
killed a toddler and injured four other children.

A single-storey timber house
engulfed in flames well before crews arrive. Five children were inside
at the time, all under 15 years old.

Four of them escaped,
but one didn't. As a result of inquiries, there has been a deceased child
located within the premises. The victim has been identified
as a 2-year-old boy. The four surviving children were
treated for minor smoke inhalation and taken to hospital.

A crime scene has been declared and investigations
are being conducted to establish a cause of the fire. It wasn't the only tragedy
last night. In Melbourne,

two people were killed in a blaze
which gutted a unit at Deer Park.

,.We have since identified two bodies, an unidentified male and an unidentified female. At this stage the cause is still being investigated.

Also in Melbourne, a flooring factory lit up
the night sky at Dandenong causing up to $7 million damage. It took 150 firefighters several
hours to extinguish the flames. The fumes were so toxic emergency crews issued an emergency
warning to nearby residents to stay inside and close windows
and doors. One firefighter was treated
for smoke inhalation. Investigators will return
to the scene of all three blazes this morning.

Three people have died in
overnight house fires in Melbourne, and Toowoomba west of Brisbane. Nick Etchells in at Deer Park
in Melbourne and Michelle Tapper is at Toowoomba. Nick, is there any cause yet of the
blaze which claimed two lives?

No, there isn't yet, Kochie. Forensic chemmists are still yet to arrive this morning to run their tests before they can make any positive determination on that. We do know that neighbours have said that they started hearing windows shattering and proceedingss about 12. shattering and proceedingss about 12.30 last night. And they called the fire department who arrived here properly to a very intense blaze. Now, they - two men were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation but then firefighters managed to do a search through the house and found the bodies of two people, a man and a woman who were both in the one bedroom. The resident of this house is a 42-year-old man. We don't yet know whether he is one of the two who was taken to hospital or was who was taken to hospital or was in the house but we spoke to neighbour a short while ago who described the scene. Then I heard like big bangs and I thought that something hit the house. So I've gone to my laundry, oh my God, at first I thought they were head lights of a car and I realised there were huge flames coming out. This is the second time in two years this house has been in the news. Two years ago, Christmas, - sorry, New Year's Eve, 2011, there was a house party that got out of was a house party that got out was a house party that got control and ended with a siege with heavily armed police. Police were called her around 6 o'clock as well as several fire crews. It took them around about an hour to put out the home. Neighbours say the kids were absolutely December stressed as you can imagine and neighbours themselves are devastated this morning. Everyone is very sad about what happened. They say that the home just went up in a matter of minutes. It was just too quick to be able to get inside and rescue the little two-year-old boy. The four eldest children are still in hospital. They were suffering from smoke inhalation. A fireman was also treated at the scene and investigations will continue today. All right, we will leave it there. Keep us posted. Here is

Clive Palmer should know
today or tomorrow whether he's heading to Canberra. Today's the deadline for the Electoral Commission
to receive postal votes for the Sunshine Coast seat
of Fairfax. The billionaire businessman currently leads LNP opponent
Ted O'Brien by 98 votes. Several hundred postal and pre-poll
votes still need to be counted. Seven News reporter Laura Dymock
is on the Sunshine Coast. Postal votes and preferences
haven't been counted. Who are they expected to favour?

Well, Sam, the postal votes are expected to favour the LNp, Ted owe brain has clawed back some ground since election night and at one stage was even ahead of Mr Parker. The LNp has around 10,000 primary votes more than Mr Parker but as Mr Parker's preference deals that have him in the lead.Okay, Laura, are residents there surprised by how well Clive Parker has Power of performed in the poll. What do they think of the thought of him representing him in the parliament. Many people say they voted for him to send a message to the other two parties. There has been a lot of questions about whether Mr Parker's heart is in this and whether he is prepared to do the job and sit analyst even to his constituents and take their problems to parliament when of course, he has much more lucrative business interests.Okay, if there are less than 100 votes between the two candidates, an automatic recount takes place but both sides are expectinged to challenge this count anyway, aren't they?Yes, Clive Parker certainly will, he has been very critical of the decision. He will contests the decision, whether he wins or not. The AEC confirmed there has been a countsing error, it means that a recount is almost guaranteed. That means that the people of Fairfax will be waiting quite a long time longer before they find out who their member is.No party for Beretts and Nat at Coolum.

If you're heading off
in the car these school holidays, you'll be keeping a close eye
on petrol prices. And the good news is
there's hope of some relief at the bowser. There's been a strong rebound
in the Aussie dollar this week. After months of hovering around
90US cents, it's now back to around 95 and some commentators are predicting
it could return to parity.

and some commentators are predicting
it could return to parity. It follows the US Federal Reserve
decision not to change
its economic stimulus program. For more, we're joined by Business
Day commentator Michael Pascoe. Michael,

how much could this see petrol
and day-to-day shopping drop?

Not by much. Look at the percentages here. We have gone from 92, up to 9 here. We have gone from 92, up to 95. It's a couple of per sent. I don't think there will be a great deal of difference. When you are filling up your car, every cent counts so there are a couple of cents in it. It's a big reminder that the exchange rate is not all about us. It's about the other mob. While the us us is continuing to debase it's currency, there is hope for the Aussie to be a bit stronger or a problem with the Aussie being a bit stronger.Yeah. Because this is exactly what the Reserve Bank did not want, isn't it? It wanted to keep that dollar around 90 us us cents, a bit below, help our exporters rebuild the economy. Exactly. The Reserve Bank has been very vocal about that saying the Australian dollar is still too high. It would like to see it down. But of course, we can't force it down ourselves. Lower interest rates help push it down a bit. But it's more about what the us us dollar is doing, rather than what the Aussie dollar is doing. So if the Reserve Bank is so concerned, it will move even more on interest rates to devalue our dollar? And bring rates down? Is that concerned about the level of the dollar? It is one more factor in the equation but it's not the only game in town. The Reserve Bank is seeing the pick up in the housing industry that it wanted to generate through loser monitoring policy. It is seeing that beginning to come through. Housing loans are picking up and tlfr, it would be a little bit wary about pushing it too far because the impact of all the cuts we have had so far, haven't worked their way through the system. It's something that the in the equation but you would have to see softer signs in the Australian economy before that would be enough to drive it.Were you surprised the Federal Reserve decided not to do - even a little tapering back, just to say to the market " say to the market "you can't be on this financial life support forever. Don't get too used to it."The entire world was surprised. That's why we got that jump through every market. They have only put it O there has been a bit of overreaction. Ben Bernanke is saying, we are going to try to do it by the end of the year, there are not too many months left until the end of the year. They have only delayed it by a little bit. Maybe the markets are overreacting anyway. Premier, Colin Barnett, urging taib to raise the GST revenue. This is something that's very important. I think it's the beginning of an inevitable push of the State Governments demanding some genuine tax reform, not just the GST. The state governments are all beginning to hit a brick fall of ifs Cal problems. It will take State Government demanding Canberra to Government demanding Canberra change the change the GST to give the Federal Government the excuse to do it. It wasn't just the idea of increasing the 10% rate, it's also the possibility of increasing the base of putting GST on things that don't presidently have it such as fresh food, health, education. It's the beginning of something that's inevitable. The demographics of Australia, the need for Australia, the need infrastructure is there, the states have run out of money pretty much, even a rich state like WA.All right, mate, good to see you. Have a great weekend.

It seems Shane Warne could be
making a mad dash to London to meet with fiance Liz Hurley. Warne was spotted
at Melbourne Airport last night, boarding a flight to London
with his children. He told News Limited he's going to be gone for a while
and plans to have a good time. Kids could soon find themselves on
the wrong side of the law just by chalking up
some hopscotch squares or a handball court on the footpath. New anti-graffiti laws in NSW
make it illegal to intentionally mark any premises
without the owner's approval. That means children could face
a fine of more than $400 if they get caught drawing
with chalk. The government has downplayed
the impact of the new laws but admits youngsters
could find themselves in breach. Sunrise Reporter Elle Taylor
has more. What's sparked this crackdown?

Well, Sam, the New South Wales parliament is currently considering changes to its anti Grafanakis laws. There is a pretty clear crackdown on what is called a non-permanent marking. It allows police to go after things like chalk which is popular with street artists but also with children. The crux of this proposal, you can't mark anything that isn't yours. So for kids who want to play a game of hopscotch, that will mean taking their parents down to council, getting the okay before they can chalk a single square of chalk. It's a pretty tiring process for an innocent game. If they fail to do that, they could be fined $ be fined $440 but the New South Wales Premier, Barry O'Farrell says it Wales Premier, Barry O'Farrell says it he doesn't think it will come to that. He is pretty sure there will be common sense policing. It won't be the kids paying, it will be the parents. It is a bid ludicrous but for Grafitti, not these kids, how tough are penalties there?Well, as part of this proposal, there part of this proposal, there is what is called an aggravated Grafitti offence. That carries a tds 20 fine and a year in chalk. This is for things like spray paint in public places. Again it's really up to police as to whether or not people will face these sort of penalties. Depends on what they Depends on what they are charged with if and when they are arrested. Critics of this bill say there is too much police discretionment they want parliament to spend a little more time to get the legislation right, so we have clearly defined laws in black and white and people can chalk between the lines.Thank you, el. Talk to you soon.

We have done something very legal and marked out our own little hopscotch. Nice work, Beretts.
