EMMA ALBERICI, PRESENTER: A major rescue operation is taking place in the US State of Colorado, where at least six people have been killed in severe flooding.

More than 2,000 people have been rescued so far, while around 200 others remain unaccounted for.

JOE PELLE, BOULDER COUNTY SHERIFF: We're assuming that some of them are still stranded. We're assuming that some of them made their way out and simply haven't contacted us or friends and family to get pulled off the list. We're assuming that there may be further loss of life or injuries. We have to assume that. I hope and pray that's not the case, but given the devastation in some of those closed canyons, it's certainly a high probability.

EMMA ALBERICI: The National Guard has been called in to help the rescue effort, which is being hampered by extensive damage to the road network. Floodwaters are starting to subside in some areas, but more rain has been forecast for this week.
