Philip Mirowski describes himself and his message as the canary in the mine. He argues that the outsourcing of research and the privatisation of science rather than promoting and advancing the discipline is hindering its progress.

And he warns that universities who are looking to secure their financial future through the promise of revenue streams from intellectual property should be cautious. In only a few cases, he says, is this strategy paying off.

Mirowski offers a critical assessment of how neo-liberal policies are influencing Universities, science and scientific research.
