This program is captioned live. A daredevil dives
from the edge of space breaking records on the way
to a perfect landing. Rapper Jelal Edmonds
fighting for life after being wounded in his heart. Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer
end their 9-year-marriage. We definitely had the hair
covering the boobs, and had to play with lights so we
don't see any of that (LAUGHS). The singing sensation talks about
music, sex and keeping it real. He's a father turned global
superstar, and he's coming Sunrise. Find out what's behind
'Gangnam Style'.

Right across Australia,
this is Sunrise on Seven. Now live from Brekky Central,
Matt and Mel. Hello and welcome to a new week. Kochie's taking some time off,
so Matt White is here. We hope you've been practising
'Gangnam Style'.

Yes.Your daughters shown you the move?Yes, we looked at YouTube last night. And been practising skidiving from 38,000 feet, in fact, that's from 38,000 feet, in fact, what old mate, Felix should have done, Gangnamed down.Yes, oun from the capsule.I am looking forward to this, giving away $ this, giving away $20,000 in the Sunrise cash call.Yes, very cool. Let's begin everything with that historic leap?

An Austrian daredevil
has landed safely after jumping
from the edge of space. Felix Baumgartner took off
in a pressurised capsule early this morning - carried by an ultra-thin helium
balloon to around 37 kilometres. Just a short time ago - the final checks were made ahead
of the heart-stopping plunge. MISSION CONTROL: Stand up
on the exterior.

Keep your head down, release the helmet tie-down strap. Start the cameras. And our guardian angel will take care of you.

There were cheers
from the control room and relieved hugs from his family as he landed safely on Earth.

More from the spot where he landed shortly.

Emotions have run high at the scene of a deadly shooting
in Sydney's south-west. Police were forced to hold back
grieving loved ones at Greenacre after a 27-year-old was shot dead
in a suburban street. Another man was taken to hospital
in a stable condition suffering gunshot wounds to his leg. This is not a random incident,
ah, it's concerning, clearly it's of great concern. Witnesses say
the offenders sped off in their car. A former 'X Factor' contestant remains in a serious, but stable,
condition after being stabbed in the heart outside a Sydney nightclub
on the weekend. For the latest I'm joined
by Seven News reporter Jodie Speers. Good morning, Jodie. Jelal Edmonds
is an up-and-coming rapper?

Good morning, Nat. He is. He was on the second season of 'X Factor' and since then has gone on to enjoy increasing success. He was out celebrating launching a single when he was stabbed in the heart on Oxford Street yesterday. Friends said he went in to help them when there was kicking and screaming and punching. Before they knew it, Jelal was stabbed in the heart. It is touch and go. Now he is in a serious, but stable condition so he has improved somewhat. The men arrested were charged with affray and will face court later this morning.Thank you.

Two teenagers have been charged
following a high-speed joy-ride through South-East Queensland. The pair are accused
of stealing a ute at Richlands in Brisbane's south-west yesterday before hitting some of the state's
fastest highways. They were caught
weaving in and out of traffic as they reached speeds
of up to 160km/h. At one stage the ute stops
for petrol, before taking off again. The offenders also try to car-jack
another vehicle along the pursuit. Finally, after losing control,
police jump in - dragging the teenagers
out of the car. They were arrested
and taken into custody. Thousands of Year 12 students will
be feeling just a little jittery this morning as they prepare
to sit end-of-year exams. The Higher School Certificate
exams begin in New South Wales today with English first on the agenda. Health experts are warning students to steer clear of stimulants,
including energy drinks, as they face last-minute
cramming sessions. Actor Russell Crowe and his wife,
Danielle Spencer, have separated after nine years
of marriage - according to
the 'Sydney Morning Herald'. For the latest I'm joined by Sunrise
showbiz correspondent Nelson Aspen. Good morning, Nelson. What more can you tell us?

Well, there's not much to know at this point, Nat, because we're awaiting a comment from Russell representative. All eyes are even glued to his Twitter account. It is a surprise, they married nine years ago and first met 20 years ago. They have a lifetime of love together. In addition to two young sons, 8 and 6, Russell has been in New York filming a movie on the life of Noah, the one who built the ark, he has nine naouvies next year so it is believed time and distance were a factor.

In finance news:

For a look ahead at the week
in finance, I'm joined now
by Craig James at CommSec. Good morning. A busy week ahead. What's in store?

There is a busy week ahead. Today figures on housing, finance and new car sales. We should get healthy gains from both those indicators, the housing finance, probably the strongest gain in a year, courtesy of the rate cuts around midyear. The minutes of the last Reserve Bank Board meeting coming out tomorrow or Tuesday and that was the decision to cut interest rates. So we will look closely at the detail there. Always broader figures on lending finance will also be out on Tuesday. Also, there is a lot of earnings results from the US and household names like Google, Microsoft, Dominos Pizza will dominate proceedings. Here in Australia, the big news of course is Psy coming to Australia. The good news, is I won't be joining him.I am sure we can convince you? Unlikely. Can't wait for it.

Coming up -
one in three Aussies have it but most don't even know
what it is. Toxoplasmosis
is a terrifying disease. We find out if you're at risk
and what you can do to stay safe. But first, here's Beretts. Cricket Australia has reportedly
ordered Shane Watson to come home from the Twenty20 Champions League
by the end of the week to ensure he's fresh
for the Australian summer. Watson's Sydney Sixers
opened their campaign with a 14-run win over the Chennai
Super Kings overnight. Moises Henriques hammered
a brutal unbeaten 49 off 23 balls.

Henriques followed it up
with a vital 3-wicket haul which included the scalp
of Super Kings captain MS Dhoni. The Central Coast Mariners have notched their first win
of the A-League season, downing Perth Glory 1-0 in Gosford. Daniel McBreen
played the role of super-sub, slotting home the winner
in the second half. In Melbourne, the Heart maintained
their unbeaten record, playing out a draw
against Wellington. A deliberate hand ball
from Simon Colosimo allowed the Phoenix to snatch a draw
from the penalty spot. Mark Webber has finished second
to team-mate Sebastian Vettel at the Korean Grand Prix, giving Red Bull its first 1-2 finish
of the F1 season. Lewis Hamilton found trouble
yet again, picking up a piece of loose astro
turf in the closing laps. The drivers were treated
to a bit of 'Gangnam Style' as the crossed the finish line with pop sensation Psy there
to wave the chequered flag. And what better way for the Red Bull
boys to celebrate their 1-2 finish than with a bit of 'Gangnam Style'
dancing of their own.

Not bad, Mark Webber has got moves. I hope he wears the blinged-up jacket.I love Craig James says PSY. He thinks it is a stock.Wish it was.PSY is going up thASX is going down. You want your money there. Let's check with Grant who has the weather for us?Good morning team! Hope you had a great weekend. Just been practising my 'Gangnam Style', going to be a big week. I have got about a million kids just grabbing at my ankles saying can I see this guy perform? It is going to be big. I hope you are looking forward to your working week. Weather-wise, a front from Victoria to Tasmania. Probably won't bring rain but a dip in temperatures. But ahead of it, it is warm so warm air from the west and Queensland. Let's look at the forecast now.

Coming up this Sunrise -

If you're in Melbourne, a sunny top of 27. It will be lovely, which is part of the front I was talking about, which is sliding through from WA to South Australia, and will push into Victoria later. Let's look at the forecast. Hang on, I did it.You can never get enough forecasts. Thank you, mate, see you in 20 minutes.

Coming up this Sunrise - Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer
split after nine years of marriage. Plus, the little-known disease
passed on by pet cats. Are you at risk? But next -
skydiving from the edge of space. We're live to New Mexico
as Felix Baumgartner creates history by free-falling
from 39km above Earth.

He did that a little too well, didn't he?

It was delayed for a week because
the conditions weren't right but thrillseeker Felix Baumgartner
has overnight successfully completed his
record-breaking jump from space.

That is one of the great shots you'll see this year.

Baumgartner leapt from his capsule from more than 39 kilometres
above earth. He broke three records
on the way down.

Probably got a good headache too.

Our US Bureau chief, Mike Amor,
has been following the jump from Roswell, New Mexico. Mike, Baumgartner and his crew
must be elated?

Yes, hi, Matt and Mel. You can see Felix, just arrived back at mission control here to be with his family. Of course, the people who helped get him up into the edge of space. It was really quite spectacular. My heart was in my mouth when I saw him stand on that ledge and he was 39 kilometres above earth. You could see nothing but black above him and the curvature of the earth and he just jumped off. For the briefest of moments, I thought he was spinning out of control. He was certainly spinning but it seems he wasn't out of control. Everybody here was very anxious at that moment, that was a real danger of what could happen at that altitude. Then you can see him start to bring it under control and start to talk to the folks at mission control. We think he broke three of the if you records, the highest manned balloon mission, the highest free-fall and the speed of sown, within the first 40 minutes of his decent. We don't think he broke the record for the longest free-fall. We think heed a problem with his visor freezing over or fogging up so he pulled the chute earlier. Who can blame him. An amazing moment. We know there was a couple of delays. Was it all smooth in the lead-up? No hitches overnight I have learned a lot about balloon flights in the last week. There is nothing flights in the last week. There is nothing easier. I think space shuttle takeofferize easier. We are on and off and on and off. They need just perfect conditions, no wind. Thankfully, we got that window and thankfully we got Felix up to the edge of space, hopefully, we'll have him later in Sunrise speaking about what he experiencedmincredible images. The pressure on his body and head and everything. As he was free-falling you could hear him breathing, it was extraordinary and it was (gags) and Mike was rout, the visor was fogging up and fogging up and finally the parachute safely to earth. Thankfully.

What's making news brought to you
by Australian Pork, with half the fat of red meat
and a valuable source of iron. Get some pork on your fork. Making news this morning - actor Russell Crowe and his
entertainer wife, Danielle Spencer, have reportedly split. They married nine years ago. The 'Sydney Morning Herald' says the
decision to separate was amicable. Crowe is working in the US
on the movie 'Noah' while Spencer remains in Sydney
with their two sons. We'll get more on split this later
on Sunrise.

Very sad for them all.It is a surprise, isn't it?Yes, I was surprised.Still no word on Twitter. Russell is big on Twitter. That's where the official. You don't Tweet things like this.It is sort of out there now. A good way of making it official or shutting it up. Either or. Also making headlines...

the Aussie caught urinating on
the site of the Sari Club bombing in Bali. 'Perth Now' says the man had been with members of
the Kingsley Football Club in WA, commemorating the 10th anniversary
of the Bali bombings. Seven players from the club were among the 88 Australian victims
of the terror attacks. The photo was apparently taken shortly after a minute's silence
to remember the tragedy. David Marshall,
the son of a Bali bombing victim, says the photo is repulsive,
and should be publicised.

Repelsive is the word.Don't need to say more, do you? say more, do you??Yes.

Kids who regularly skip school are being offered iPod music players
to attend classes. The 'Daily Telegraph' says
truants are also being bribed by canteen vouchers
and barbecue lunches. The paper says it's an attempt
to boost school attendances which are as low as 60%
in some areas. So, should truants be rewarded
for attending school or should they be punished
for not turning up?

Barbecue lunches? I'm going back to Barbecue lunches? I'm going back school. Sl.It is a big problem in some areas. And you can wish it wasn't happening and say they should be punished but it's not going to change. If it make as difference for getting anige kaegz. We -- an education. We get rewarded for coming to work. How's that?We get paid.I thought Mel was going to say you get an iPod.You need an incensef to get out of -- incentive to get out of bed.Can I talk about the moment of the morning, the jump by Felix Baumgartner, incredible. Jump away. (CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

That was the moment, this is watching him on an infrared camera, that is his body heat, listen to him breathe, come on Felix, breathe! He did breathe this morning.Mission control: there's the chute. The moment he stepped out of the capsule and plummeting it was crucial, they didn't know with the lack of resistance whether he would start to tumble and spin or blackout. This is incredible. 36 kilometres above the earth. That is the perfect takeoff. The perfect shot. The coverage this morning if you were watching it, it dragged you in. You hung on every moment.Five years planning it.I thought commentating six hours of Bathurst was hard, those guys had two and a half hours of talking about nothing, it has now gone up to 100 feet. And the week before when it didn't happen. They were studying the impact of pressure on your body. What we will learn through time? The highest manned balloon flight and the highest free-fall. Rjs the man is crazy. ---- the man is crazy.

The news headlines are coming up
next on Sunrise as we go live to Brisbane

Still to come -
Australia has decided. The reviews are in, now find out which brands
have managed to win the most customer loyalty.

I thought we had an election there I missed. But now the news headlines with Nat.

An Austrian daredevil
is back on solid ground after completing
the stunt of a lifetime. Felix Baumgartner jumped
from the edge of space, 37 kilometres above
the earth's surface. He's broken the world record
for the highest skydive and is waiting to find out

if he's the first person to fall
from the sky at supersonic speed. Baumgartner was also hoping
to break the record for the longest free-fall, but wasn't able to claim that title,
at least not this time. Prime Minister Julia Gillard
has made a surprise visit to Afghanistan. The PM met with troops
in Tarin Kowt. She also held talks with officials,
including President Hamid Karzai, during the top-secret mission. It comes ahead
of a 3-day visit to India where Ms Gillard will focus on security issues,
trade and investment. A man who was stabbed in Sydney
over the weekend has been identified
as a former 'X Factor' contestant. Jelal Edmonds - known as 'Lazy J' -
was knifed in the chest outside a nightclub in the city
early yesterday morning. He remains in a serious, but stable,
condition in hospital. It's believed

the up-and-coming hip-hop artist when he was struck. He'd been out celebrating
the release of his upcoming album. Two men, in their early 20s, have been arrested
and both charged with affray. Edmonds appeared on the television
talent show in 2010. A large fire has destroyed a factory
in Sydney's west overnight. The blaze broke out in
North St Marys just before midnight with a number of explosions
reported. Two crews were needed
to help contain the blaze and a crane was also brought in. The fire was contained
to the factory. Police have set up a crime scene
and are investigating the cause. Two teenagers have been charged For the latest I'm joined by Seven
News reporter Michael Scanlan. Good morning, Michael.

Take us through what happened?

Yes, it was a high-speed joyride that lasted around two hours and spanned five different motorways in the Brisbane region. The two men weaved in and out of traffic, often reaching 200km/h. At woun point that ran out of fuel and stopped at a bowser. The pursuit began in Oxley in bowser. The pursuit began in Oxley in Brisbane's north side and then on to the motorway but the police were not able to give chase. The police smashed their way into the vehicle and arrested the men. When they were captured, the driver and his passenger cowered inside their car telling police they surrendered. Police want anyone who witnessed the chase or hit or run off the road to contract Crime Stoppers.OK, thank you for the update from Queensland.

In finance news:

Champion jockey Damien Oliver
won't be riding in this weekend's
$2.5 million Caulfield Cup as the fallout over claims he bet on
a race he was riding in continues Oliver was dumped from English
stayer My Quest For Peace last night,

just hours after losing the ride
on Cox Plate contender Green Moon. Racing Victoria stewards
are investigating allegations Oliver bet $10,000 on a rival horse
in 2010. Meanwhile, Gai Waterhouse
will decide on a new rider for Cox Plate favourite Pierro today after Craig Williams
opted to ride Green Moon. The Sydney Sixers are off
to a winning start at the Twenty20 Champions League, downing the Chennai Super Kings
by 14 runs overnight. A breathtaking all-round performance
from Moises Henriques set up the victory. He blasted 49 off 23 balls and then
followed it up with a 3-wicket haul. Skipper Steve Smith did his part, taking a brilliant catch
on the boundary to dismiss danger-man MS Dhoni. Essendon defender Dustin Fletcher
has confirmed he'll play a 21st season in the AFL. The 37-year-old has signed
a new one-year contract and says he's still enjoying
his footy. The new deal leaves Fletcher poised to become
the Bombers' games record holder. The 365-game veteran,
just 13 games short of current record holder
Simon Madden.

Grant jumps off stuff, he sets records and has the weather. Extreme. I met a man who has a dog. Well, that's the end of the story. See you in half an hour. A man who had a dog, rides on his motor bike and he's going for the land speed record of having a dog on his bike. At 200 miles an hour. How amazing is that! He think it that! He think it's Awwwwesome! He wears goggles. They ride all around the country. They have the record for the world's fastest dog. They will do it on the salt flats. It is almost as extreme as Mr Balm gatner or Hermgatrner or whatever his name is. To have a really terrible is. To have a really terrible segue, we have had some of the coldest mornings for some time. Queensland had their coldest morning for 12 years. A lot of that is going because there is a front from WA and South Australia, bringing really warm air from central Australia for Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. So quite warm at the moment until that front comes through. Let's ache take a look.

A trough is triggering showers
and potentially severe storms in northern New South Wales
and South-East Queensland.

Some of the it brought golf-ball size hail yesterday.

A high is bringing clear skies

for inland areas. Troughs are causing showers and
storms in southern South Australia.

Now to the little known parasite that's putting the health
of millions of Australians at risk. They're microscopic
and live in the brain causing the disease
toxoplasmosis. Two billion people have it worldwide and an estimated eight million
Australians. It's particularly harmful
to pregnant women. Fleur Ristic's second child
was stillborn as a result of the disease. She spoke to Seven's 'Sunday Night'. I knew about toxoplasmosis
very briefly about not changing cat litter. To be honest, the hardest bit was saying goodbye to her
for the last time. That was... ..knowing that she wasn't with me
anymore once we left the hospital. Left without our baby. Dr Ginni Mansberg is here
to explain more.

Is this something we aren't aware of or how bad it is? Should we be tested? We don't routinely test. That was just heartbreaking. The worst consequence is very early in the pregnancy losing the baby, at the very end losing the baby or if it does go through in pregnant women the results don't turn up until the child is older, it take as few months or years for the results to turn up. It is devastating but it is not as common as we think. The tests are not brilliant. They are very expensive and for that reason we don't routinely test anybody. The don't routinely test anybody. only people with problems with pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems like HIV AIDS.So if we most have it, you don't know unless you are pregnant? It is not a notifyable disease. If I coo a blood test and find it, we don't have accurate stats. The stats are it is less common. Even if you do get it when you are pregnant, only 20% of it goes through the baby. Of all the babies, most don't get sick. It is not as bad as it sounds. We don't want everybody to panic. I saw the story and looked at the cat and thought put her out.Only half the infection is coming through the pussy cat, the rest is through uncooked meat.So how to

We don't have much of it in Australia and the numbers are going down because we do cook our meat.

You are only to get it through a cat if they eat raw meat and their poop is in the kitty litter or the garden is in the kitty litter or the garden and you fiddle with that. It is not in the cat, per se, it is just if they have eaten the raw meat.Thank you.The cat can stay. She'll be happy to hear that. Here is Matt.

Consumers have taken to the internet
to rank their favourite retailers
and service providers. More than two million Aussies visit
website productreview.com.au every month. Shoppers review the big names
based on customer service and price. And the latest results
are quite surprising. And Sam Williamson from
productreview.com.au joins us now. Sam, first to supermarkets. Foodland is the favourite followed
by Harris Farm, Aldi then Coles, IGA and Woolies. Are you surprised
the bigger stores are at the bottom?

That's right. Well, Coles is rated higher than Woolworths but we are seeing the likes of Aldi and Harris Farm rate highly. People are drawn to Aldi because it has cheap prices and somewhere like Harris fam rr because the service is friendly and people enjoy shopping there. We see Coles online and woolworth rate below Aussie farmers direct, which is an Australian-owned online shop. This is not just price but customer service. The department stores have come under huge fire for their lack of customer service. The big one, Myer is the customers' choice over David Jones? They have a similar review. People are unhappy with the lack of service in the stores. Finding it hard to get someone to pay for what you want to get. Compare this to stores such as Apple or IKEA. Slightly different stores but they show the high level of customer service is possible in retail. So yes.So the retailers, the big retailers have a lot of work to do?Yes t looks like it.People always have a gripe about the telcos as well but people clearly favour Optus over Telstra for their land line and Go-Sim and amay Sim are more popular than Telstra. It is a lot of complaints about all sorts of things, confusion over billing, things like people in rural areas only left with one option, who to go with. So you do see the smaller brands that you talked about who rate higher than the Vodafone and Telstras. What is important for all brands looking at this, peen need to take on their -- people need to take on their customer service complaint. If we have got hundreds of people leaving reviews saying customer service is not great, it is probably the case. Brands should consider responding to these reviews. The shows the customer they care and they can use web sites thick this. It is the difference between keeping a customer or losing them.So the people have spoken. Productreview.com.au.Thank you.

Thankyou Water is launching
a campaign today to help spread
a very important message. The social enterprise works
with charities to provide clean drinking water
to people in developing nations. Each bottle of water they sell provides someone with
one month's safe drinking water. Three million bottles have been sold since they started
just a few years ago. So far they've helped 15,000 people in Asia, the Pacific
and Sub-Saharan Africa. Dan, you've been selling your
water for a few years now.

Hey, Nat, well, look, we are launching the campaign because we just hit, as you mentioned, the 3 million-bottle mark. More importantly, 15,000 people now have access to safe water for the rest of their life. We thought let's take three weeks to really thank Australia. It is our hope, as we say thank you, and the goal is 3 million thank yous, we will thank anyone who has stocked or bought the product or inspired the rest of Australia to make the switch to thank you -- Thankyou Water.Where can you buy it from? There are heaps of ways you can get involved. First up, you can buy it at any 7-Eleven, Australia Post stock it and cafes and independent outlets stock the water. But to be part there is three ways. The first is to share a thank you. We have worked with top film-makers in the country to put together an ad. Some TV stations are airing it for 3. At 3:00 on our Facebook page we will launch it. We ask you to like the like the Facebook page and share it. You can post a thank you note from our web site. You can do a thing called go thanking. The idea is the gesture of simply saying thank you. The Sunrise showbiz report is
brought to you by Australian Pork, with half the fat of red meat
and a valuable source of iron. Get some pork on your fork. Showbiz editor Nelson Aspen
joins us now. Good morning. Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer
have split?

That is the report that we're hearing. We're waiting for some kind of confirmation, either from Russell representative or the couple themselves. A lot of couples it take to Twitter to set the record straight. We haven't heard from Russell as acbive -- active as he is. A far cry from when he was in the anger management issues, thanks to Twitter, we hear more about the exercise regimes. Like the kayak a few weeks ago when he got lost and needed the coast guard to get him back to shore. It is sad after nine years of marriage, the claim is they have separated amkhaebl and try to remain civil and positive for the sake of their two young sons.He needed the coast Guard to guide him needed the coast Guard to guide him needed the coast Guard to guide himHome. I think it is sad. They seemed to have a solid marriage. Something different, Kim Kardashian, can't go past not asking about her, getting ready for Halloween. It will be the one-year anniversary of her announcing her divorce from Chris Humphries. She has decided to do Hollywood costume shopping. Any excuse to show off her assets. Speaking of cats, we were talking in the commercial break about your kitty cat at home, I don't know if it reminds me of a cat.My cat covers up more.Look at it.Scare a few people on Halloween. Thanks, Nelson, we will talk to you later.

A daredevil dives
from the edge of space breaking records on the way
to a perfect landing. Rapper Jelal Edmonds
fighting for life after being wounded in his heart. Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer
end their 9-year-marriage. We definitely had the hair covering
the boobs, you know, and had to play with lights so
we don't see any of that. (LAUGHS) The singing sensation talks about
music, sex and keeping it real. He's a father turned global
superstar, and he's coming Sunrise. Find out what's behind
'Gangnam Style'.

Right across Australia,
this is Sunrise on Seven. Now, live from Brekky Central,
Matt and Mel.

You'll have to do better than that. Kochie is taking some time off so Matt White is channelling his 'Gangnam Style'.I am channeling my 'Dancing with the Stars' days.

After five years of preparations, an Austrian daredevil
has completed a historic jump from the edge of space. Felix Baumgartner ascended
to the heavens aboard a specially designed craft, breaking the record for
the highest manned balloon flight. After completing some final checks, he stepped up
to take his death-defying leap. I'm going home now.

MISSION CONTROL: Jumper away. As he fell, the records kept coming. He smashed the title
for the highest free-fall jump and is the first skydiver
to break the sound barrier. The Prime Minister has made
a surprise visit to Australian troops
serving in Afghanistan. On her way to India, Julia Gillard
stopped in Tarin Kowt, having a barbecue
with Aussie soldiers. She also toured the hospital
on the base, and met with
the Afghani President, Hamid Harzai. The Prime Minister
is now on her way to India where focus will be on trade,
security and investment. Police are confident a shooting
in Sydney's south-west - which left one man dead
and another hospitalised - was a targeted attack. The pair were sprayed by bullets as they sat in their parked car
at Greenacre. Grieving the loss of a loved one
shot dead on a suburban street. Yesterday evening - emotions were
running high in Sydney's south-west. I want to be at peace!
I know, mate. Let me see him! It was a brazen attack,
carried out in broad daylight. Locals heard gunshots ring out
in Greenacre Road around lunchtime. A car pulled over and he just get
the gun and shoot the other guy. I thought it was fireworks but
really it was just bullet shootings. It's believed the two men
were sitting in a luxury Mercedes Paramedics rushed to the scene but there was nothing they could do
to save a 27-year-old man who'd been sitting
in the passenger seat. The passenger died straightaway. I think they were meant
for the passenger. 'Cause he died, just trying
to open the door and run away and he died face down. A 32-year-old man was taken
to hospital in a stable condition suffering gunshot wounds to his leg. Just before they got out
of the car, Police say both men
are known to authorities and are confident
this was a targeted attack. You have people who are prepared
to not only carry guns but use them
in quiet suburban areas. It is concerning. There've been more than
100 shootings in Sydney this year. Many said to involve gangs
fighting over drugs and territory. It is very scary. What's next? Who's next?
You just don't know. Anyone with information
about yesterday's shooting is being urged
to contact Crime Stoppers. Police have charged two teenagers following a dangerous joy-ride
through South-East Queensland. Sunrise correspondent Michael
Scanlan has more from Brisbane. Michael, the high-speed drama
went on for more than two hours.

It was quite frightening?Yes, Nat, it was an extremely dangerous chase that lasted around two hours and spanned five different motorways in the Brisbane region. The two teens exceeded speeds raufen as much as 160km/h.

Speeding along, the car weaved
in and out of traffic on Queensland's fastest highways. Stay with him, mate. Stay with him. Police said the stolen ute
reached up to 160km/h. The Channel 7 helicopter
caught every move as the vehicle sped
through the streets. Ooh, around that bus,
that was close. After two hours on the run, the driver made a race-style
pit stop at a service station, ramming cars to get to a bowser. A witness wrestled the pump out
of the passengers' hands. But they sped away. Police rolled out road spikes
and the car lost a tyre. Then, another wheel.

He's lost a tyre! He's lost a tyre!
He's lost a tyre! The driver and his passenger got out and tried to car-jack
a white station wagon but the car got away. They're on foot running back down
the highway. Oh, no!

Their time was nearly up,
but they kept going - smoking cigarettes
and making phone calls. But then, they lost control. The car smoked up
and police pounced. An officer took to the car
with a baton. and taken away for questioning. The car - a wreck.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the chase or was hit or run off the road to contact Crime Stoppers.

A former 'X Factor' contestant is in a serious, but stable,
condition after being stabbed in the chest
over the weekend. Jelal Edmonds - known as 'Lazy J' -
was knifed outside a Sydney nightclub
early yesterday morning. It's believed the young rapper
was trying to break up a fight when he was struck. He'd been out celebrating
the release of his upcoming album. Two men, in their early 20s,
have been arrested and both charged with affray. Edmonds appeared on the television
talent show in 2010. Actor Russell Crowe
and his wife, Danielle Spencer, have separated after nine years
of marriage. Fairfax reports
the split is amicable and the couple's main focus is on protecting
the privacy of their two sons - Charles and Tennyson. Crowe is currently in the US,
filming the biblical epic 'Noah'. He first met his musician wife
22 years ago on the set of the Australian film
'The Crossing'.

Coming up, the cheap booze ban. Could the days of buying
inexpensive wine be over for good? Find out why a federal health agency
is calling for a crackdown. But first, here's Beretts. Cricket Australia has reportedly
ordered Shane Watson to come home
from the Twenty20 Champions League by the end of the week to ensure he's fresh
for the Australian summer. Watson's Sydney Sixers
opened their campaign with a 14-run win over
the Chennai Super Kings overnight. Moises Henriques hammered a brutal
unbeaten 49 off 23 balls. COMMENTATOR: That'll be six. This is an astonishingly good shot. Henriques followed it up
with a vital 3-wicket haul, which included the scalp
of Super Kings captain MS Dhoni.

Of course, he's straight off the track, into the plane on on his way here.He could have souped it up more?Yes, just waving. Saving himself for Sunrise. Let's go to Grant who has today's weather for us. Hello?Hey # Sexy lady # Woop, woop # 'Gangnam Style' # Hey # Sexy lady.Good on you, mate. 'Gangnam Style'.That's good.Let's look at the forecast, right around Australia!

Sunrise weather to you by Claratyne.

It's a great dance, isn't it? How do you do the sideways one?You keep practising, we'll come back to Grant in half an hour.I will!

It was delayed for a week because
the conditions weren't right but thrillseeker Felix Baumgartner
has overnight successfully completed
his record-breaking jump from space. Baumgartner leapt from his capsule from more than 39 kilometres
above earth. He broke three records
on the way down. Our US Bureau chief, Mike Amor,
has been following the jump from Roswell, New Mexico. Mike, Baumgartner
and his crew must be elated?

This is very, very cool.Yes, so much could have gone wrong this morning, Mel, but thankfully it didn't. In fact, Felix is right behind me still celebrating with family and friends and mission control. He has been celebrating for the last half hour or so. One very relieved man, literally jumped from the edge of space. As you mentioned, 39 kilometres. It wasn't without its anxious moments. The heaters on the visor didn't work and it started to freeze over and he couldn't see on the way down. He appeared to me to start spinning out of control and was able to bring it back the to control. He did, preliminary numbers break the speed of sound in the first 40 seconds of that free-fall. He also broke the record for the highest manned balloon mission and the highest free-fall. He missed out on theest free-fall because of the visor. So that's why he pulled the cord earlier than he could have. And he chose, quite rightly, safety over the first record?Yes, he couldn't see his insfrments, apparently. So in fairness to himself and his safety, he pulled the cord early. He missed out, we think by about 15 seconds of breaking Joe Kittinger's record. He is now 84 and he was the only voice that Felix could hear today in mission control. This was quite a feat.Tell me what it would have done. I know one of the reasons to do this was to look at the pressurers on the body. What it would have done to Felix's body and the speed. Do we know, he is obviously feeling OK, we can see him standing?Yes, he seems to be feeling OK, in fact they are passing the champagne around so he must be feeling just fine. But they speculated before the jump what it would be like for the human body to go through the sound barrier because it hadn't been done before. They think he would have felt shock waves. We will ask him shortly, they are about to cross to the media.

More now on the former 'X
Factor' contestant fighting for his life in hospital. Rapper Jelal Edmonds was stabbed
after leaving a Sydney nightclub where he'd been attending the launch
of an upcoming single. For more we're joined by
Seven News reporter Jodie Speers. Jodie, tell us more
about the stabbing.

Morning, Matt, friends have described Jelal Edmonds sinking to the ground like he was in a slow-motion movie when he was stabbed very dramatically in the heart, about 2am in Oxford Street, fortunately, only a block from the hospital so he was treated quickly. The brawl started on the street after an earlier argument in the nightclub when he nightclub when he had celebrating the launch of his new single. He was on 'X Factor' a few seasons ago and had increasing success since then. It was had increasing success since then. It was meant to be a happy night that ended badly for him. Police have charged two men aged 21 and 22 over this. They will face court next months. I guess it is an example of how dangerous Sydney's streets can be late at night. What is the update on his condition? We are told he is listed as serious, but stable, here he is in intensive care. But he is better than yesterday. At that stage he was touch and go and fighting for his life because those injuries were very serious. He still has quite a recovery ahead of him and you would think some time before he is able to rap again and build the career he has got going.Thank you.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard
has made a surprise visit to Afghanistan overnight where she's met some
of our frontline troops. Seven News reporter Sarah Wiley
joins us from Canberra. Sarah, this trip was shrouded
in secrecy.

These pictures are literally just in. So probably most are unedited at this point. Tell us about the trip, this point. Tell us about the trip,. What did the PM do?They are always secret because of secret because of concerns. We can't reveal the Prime Minister has been in Afghanistan until she has left the country. She is now on her way to India so we can discuss the details of the trip. There was a bit of a morale boost for the troops, she spent time at the base in Tarin Kowt, having a barbecue with the soldiers and told them she was very proud they proud for sticking by their mission, after the recent inside attack when an Afghan soldier killed three Australian troops. The issue of insider attacks was also discussed, we believe with Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai when the pair met. She was briefed with the security handover between the local coalition and security forces.I am sure it helped with morale. We will keep rolling the pick keep rolling the pictures. She is off to India? She will reach India later today and taking part in high-level talks with the Prime Minister and the President there. The ongoing issue of uranium sales, which has been high on the agenda will dominate the talks and regional and trade discussions. You will remember over the last few years our relationship withind juhas been a bit rocky because of the racist attacks on some students down in Melbourne. So that is obviously going to be on the agenda as well. The Prime Minister will visit some of India's poorest residents. She will visit two slum areas in New Delhi tomorrow.Thank you for bringing us up to date, the pictures fresh in, the Prime Minister's visit to Afghanistan.Thank you.

Australian sport is being rocked
by cheating scandals. Champion jockey Damien Oliver is at the centre
of an alleged betting scandal that's already resulted in him
losing some upcoming rides. He's accused of placing a large bet
on a rival horse in a race in which he was riding. And a senior Australian
cycling coach has been caught in a doping scandal. Matt White has quit
all of his coaching roles after admitting to taking
performance-enhancing substances while riding with Lance Armstrong's
disgraced US Postal team. Let's get some reaction now from
our sports experts, the Wilsons. Jim and Rebecca, good morning. Jim, can you tell us a bit more
about the circumstances

About that? We got the script yesterday and it said Matt While White will be interviewing about Matt White and I thought, is it a G up?Let's talk about Damien Oliver. Serious allegationsHe has lost two rides, Green skan moon and the Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup ride. They are allegations but they are big rides to be taken off as a result of this scandal. Now, the allegations are in 2010 Damien Oliver, there running second, second favourite, took a $ favourite, took a $10,000 bet through a third party for the favourite Miss Octopussy. His horse won the race and double said his money. He hasn't issued an outright denial. He has issued a legal statement saying it has got to be allowed to have its due and proper process. So he has got process. So he has got lawyers all over it. It is a huge taint on his name, no matter what happens. He is probably our most favourite son after the Media puzzle win in the Melbourne Cup, losing his brother. He is one of our favourite sons. Our favourite rider at our favourite time of the year. So he has lost the Cox Plate and therefore the Melbourne Cup. This is where racing should be sparklingWe had it with Blake Shinn in the past and a link with jimmy Cassidy and Tony Mokbel. We have got the Nikolic inquiry that is ongoing and damning evidence against another top jockey. So there is a real smell about the jockeys. High-profile people in the community.Especially this time of year.Speaking of high profile, we know the lance amstrong case is bubbling up in the world of cycling. Matt White has stepped down from his very senior position but there is a gap saying maybe for him to come back into the fold. What needs to happen?I think there is more to come. I think it is extremely naive to say there won't be more Australians implicated. It goes from bad to worse, in my opinion, to have him involved in any level of Australian cycling. It should be a life ban.He was in charge of the Australian road team, for the Olympics, the whole thing a is a disgrace and getting worse.Thank you.

Cheap wine could soon be
a thing of the past with prices set to skyrocket under
a planned overhaul of alcohol tax. There are reports the Australian National Health
Prevention agency will this week announce
a floor price for alcohol. It would mean drinkers would be
forced to pay at least $8 to $10 for a bottle of wine.

Health groups say the move will help
reduce teenage binge drinking. Joining me now is Gordian Fulde, the head of Emergency at
St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney. Good morning. Gordian, do you think increasing
the price of alcohol will stop binge drinking?

It is very simple, Nat, the cheaper smng is, the greater the consumption and even worse. If there is lots around it teaches people to drink badly and sets up bad habits for the rest of their lives. But aren't a lot of young people drinking spirits, not wine?Yes, that's true. But on the other hand, there is an awful lot of people who may start off with spirits, a couple of shots of vodka but 10 go on for the rest of the night drinking casks, goon-bags if you will, because it is a cheep way to drink. Drinking while you are out is very expensive if you have to pay for your drinks amch Industry is saying people can't afford alcohol, pensioners, low-income earners so it will affect them? That may be so. But on the other hand what we don't see much of in the media, there are so men a people with so much chronic alcohol damage, their heart, their liver, their brain, more than half of those people rely on cheap liquor, cast, whatever is cheap and available. When they have got an alcohol abuse problem, they drink cheap liquor and the liquor is causing the chronic alcohol damage which causes us to have to pay a lot of money in our health dollars to look after these destroyed lives.Yes, and you are at the forefront, thank you for your time this morning.Pleasure, Nat. Here is mel.

Actor Russell Crowe and his
entertainer wife, Danielle Spencer, are reported to have split. They married nine years ago. For more we're joined
by showbiz commentator Peter Ford. Peter, Russell and Danielle
seemed to be the perfect couple. What happened?

I have absolutely no idea. First I knew about this was around midnight last night when the calls last night when the calls started coming in. I was shocked and saddened. The one thing I do know, and this is true of 99% of all the celebrity splits we read about is separation is always a major factor. That in turn can lead to all sort of temptations and problems. I know you can fax, e-mail each other and text each other, but the point is you need to be together. That's why I admire people like Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom and Keith and Nicole and say we will never be apart physically for more than two weeks at a time. Easy to be said, but when you are making a movie that is month at a time, you have got kids in school in Sydney, etc. at a time, you have got kids in
school in Sydney, etc., school in Sydney, etc., etc.. Easier to say, harder to make it happen amch I reckon it is a major factor amch I reckon it is a major factorer. Russell told me five years ago he was going to cut back on work and for a period he did and had month off between movies. But for a period it is back to back, the kids are in school and can't be up rooted and join him. I reckon it is a factor. One would assume the impact on the children will be relatively minimal? I can't imagine they would move and change circumstances and hopefully a they are used to bad being away? There is a big bountee for the paps to get photos of the boys of Danielle, or Russell, anything will sell well. Russell is conscious of that. We have seen the problems he has had in the past with the paparazzi around Woolloomooloo. I think the best thing would to be go up to the farm at Nanna glpglen while the frenzy is on and let it die down. That is sads. Thank you for talking to us. See you soon.

Still to come this Sunrise - do school truants deserve an iPod

Still to come on Sunrise - rewarding truants
when they turn up at school. But should we using the carrot
or the stick?

Or

or in their case, the iPod?

Plus our one-on-one
with Christina Aguilera. But now for the news headlines
with Nat. Prime Minister Julia Gillard
has made a top-secret visit to troops in Afghanistan. Her office says she spent yesterday
in the conflict zone ahead of a 3-day planned visit
to India. Her stopover included a meeting
with Hamid Karzai before a barbeque with troops. Ms Gillard praised our soldiers
for sticking to their mission despite an insider attack in August
that killed three diggers. She's now on her way to India where focus will be on trade,
security and investment. An Austrian daredevil
is back on solid ground after completing
the stunt of his career. Felix Baumgartner jumped
from the edge of space, 37 kilometres above
the earth's surface. That leap of faith earned him the record for the highest skydiving
jump in history. As he fell he reached
a speed of 1,137km/h, punching through the sound barrier

and smashing
the previous world record. He's been brought back to base and is celebrating
with his family and crew. Emotions have run high at the scene
of a deadly shooting in Sydney's south-west. Police were forced to hold back
grieving loved ones at Greenacre after a 27-year-old was shot dead
in a suburban street. Another man was taken to hospital
in a stable condition, suffering gunshot wounds to his leg.

This is not a random incident, ah,
it's concerning, clearly it's of great concern. Witnesses say
the offenders sped off in their car. A large fire has destroyed a factory
in Sydney's west overnight. The blaze broke out in
North St Marys just before midnight with a number of explosions
reported. Two crews were needed
to help contain the blaze and a crane was also brought in. The fire was contained
to the factory. Police have set up a crime scene
and are investigating the cause. Deliberately cutting electricity
during periods of high fire danger could lead to more deaths, according to a new report.

In an article published in the
'Medical Journal of Australia' experts warn fatalities
from heatwave-related illness would outweigh direct deaths
from catastrophic bushfires. They advise that power should
never be deliberately cut off unless evacuations
have been completed. The report disagrees
with a recommendation made during the 2009 Victorian
Bushfires Royal Commission. There'll be more than a few nervous
New South Wales students today with the year 12 Higher School
Certificate exams getting underway. Students are being warned
to steer clear of stimulants as they face last-minute
cramming sessions. Doctors say energy drinks
and prescription drugs could jeopardise their results. You will never make up for it by blowing your brains out
with stimulants. There are more than 73,000 students
enrolled in this year's HSC. English is the first exam.

Champion jockey Damien Oliver won't be riding in this weekend's
$2.5 million Caulfield Cup as the fallout over claims he bet on a race he was riding in
continues. Oliver was dumped from
English stayer My Quest For Peace just hours after losing the ride on
Cox Plate contender Green Moon.
The Sydney Sixers
are off to a winning start at the Twenty20 Champions League, downing the Chennai Super Kings
by 14 runs overnight. A breathtaking all-round
performance from Moises Henriques set up the victory. He blasted 49 off 23 balls and then
followed it up with a 3-wicket haul. Skipper Steve Smith did his part, taking a brilliant catch
on the boundary to dismiss danger-man MS Dhoni. Novak Djokovic has won
the Shanghai Masters after fighting back to defeat
Andy Murray in an enthralling 3-set decider.

The world number two
was frustrated early and looked headed for defeat. But he turned things around
in remarkable fashion, fending off five match points on
the way to a 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 victory. Djokovic's on track to replace
Roger Federer as world number one by season's end.

Great weekend too for Australian sport. Australia's Pete Jacobs won the Kona ironman race, the 6th year in the world an Australian has won the title in ironman, a legend. Speaking of legends and guys who go the extra yard, Grant with weather. Beretts, I think it's time. Time. Time for what? Say?Yes y did.I think formalizing our bond. We're more than a family. We're a unit. We're a succinct team. We are a united force. A front in which, it's like a love. Here at Ballast Point in Sydney, love is symbolized by the placing of a lock on this wall, this former Caltex terminal has now become one of Sydney's most romantic love spots where you can grab yourself a lock and sign away your love forever. There it is, locked away for generations to come. Look at this, found love in Sydney, married in New Zealand. Beautiful. There a lots of messages and I reckon we whack one up. There is one, Holly and Tony, forever. Beautiful, there is this one here, best friend, cutest spots, funniest smile, softest neck... Kindest brown eyes and most beautiful it's a dog. That's cute...Nothing says love like a lock, anyway.I love yeah.I think it's cute.Unlocked once.Yes. Halfway around.Sorry, mate, spoiling the moment.Sorry, there was love in the air until we laughed.Lisa and Johanna? Oh? There is all kinds. What would you write on yours Beretts?I love food.Grant and Beretts.

In breaking news - New South Wales Police
are seeking help to find a 5-month-old child who was taken from his home
in Canley Vale by his father
early this morning. Just before 3am,
a 39-year-old man left the property in a 1999-model gold-coloured
Holden Commodore sedan, New South Wales
registration VZE-727. Jason Ringrose is described as being
of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion,
about 172cm tall, thin build, with light-brown hair
and brown eyes. When he was last seen he was wearing
a black jumper and shorts. Blake is described
as being five months old and of Caucasian appearance. At the time he was wearing
a blue Bonds jumpsuit. Any one with information
on the abduction should call 000.

Obviously, if anything comes through, let us know. Changing tack. It is 7:33.
