TONY JONES, PRESENTER: The Defence Department is investigating claims a civilian was killed during
a fire fight involving Australian and Afghan soldiers.

The soldiers were involved in a series of exchanges of small arms fire in the Baluchi Valley
region.

After the exchanges, Defence says soldiers were approached by locals, carrying the body of a male,
who claimed he'd been killed in the fight.

There'll be no further information from Defence until the internal review is completed.
