Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State has landed in Perth. Dr Rice's visit to Western
Australia is not an offical diplomatic trip but a personal trip to Foreign Minister Stephen Smith's
home town.

LEIGH SALES, PRESENTER: Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, has landed in Perth.

Dr Rice and Foreign Minister Stephen Smith arrived on a US air force jet a short time ago.

The Secretary of State was greeted on the tarmac by State Premier Alan Carpenter, the Minister for
Immigration senator Chris Evans and US Ambassador Robert McCallum.

Dr Rice's visit to Western Australia is not an official diplomatic tour, but a personal trip to Mr
Smith's home town.
