LEIGH SALES, PRESENTER: Israel and Syria have confirmed tonight they will hold indirect peace talks
to be mediated by Turkey.

The two countries, which are technically still at war, say they're entering into the discussions in
good faith in an attempt to reach a comprehensive peace deal.

The main sticking points will be Israel's withdrawal from the disputed Golan Heights and Syria's
links with Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Syria's Foreign Minister tonight claimed that Israel has agreed to withdraw from the Golan Heights
up to the 1967 truce line.

Israel hasn't commented on that claim.
