(generated from captions) I have been plan ting for a while

but as every guy knows, it take as

certain amount of motivation, but I

was planning it, it felt right in

Africa, it felt beautiful, I had

done a bit of planning to share my

romantic side. The happy couple,

William gives Kate his mother's

engagement ring, a blue sapphire

and diamond band especially design

said for Diana in 1981. The date,

venue and guest list is coming up

on our royal engagement especially

edition of Sunrise on this

Wednesday, the 17th negative, 2010.

Right across Australia, this is

Sunrise on seven. From Brekky

Central, Kochie and Mel. This

program is captioned live.. Oh...

Wedding of the century. Yep. Woe!

That is a big call. The next 90

years will be dull but it is

official, there will be a royal

wedding next year. After months of

speculation and years together,

Prince William and Kate Middleton

have announced their engagement.

And he asked permission. Well done.

Good boy. The Queen said she is

absolutely delighted. One is. We

have comprehensive coverage for you

this morning with live reports from

London and inicide story from the

royal watchers. Let's kick it off

with Nat, she loves a royal wedding.

I do! You love it. I remember the

last one so vividly. Prince William

and long-time girlfriend Kate

Middleton have announced they will

marry next year. The happy couple

say the timing is right after

William proposed on holiday in

Kenya last months. She is not

around to share in the fun and

excitement of it all, it is my way

of keeping her, close to it all.

The Royal Family hasn't given

details on a date but the wedding

is likely to be held in July or

August next year. Back home, an 18-

year-old South Australian man will

face court today tkharpblged over

the triple murder of a family in

Kapunda. Hundreds of anxious locals

gathered outside the police station

last night to hear the news

themselves. Earlier this evening we

have arrest said an 18-year-old pun

mun man who will be charged with

murder. They were stabbed to dergt

in their home last week, it is

believed the alleged murder is a

friend of Chantelle's boyfriend.

Residents in north Queensland have

held a candle-light vigil to mark

what would have been Zhara Baker's

11th birthday. More than 150

gathered in Garu. The words for

that to form the words is

impossible, she taught me more than

I could teach her. Court documents

reveal her American stepmother led

police to her body parts which were

hidden across 94 Carolina. The

government is hoping the new and

improved My MI School website will

stop information being used to

create league tables. It will

include financial data about each

school and more detailed

information from the national

literacy and numeracy tests. Education Minister, Peter Garrett

said new security measures on the

site will stop the material being

used in unintended ways. It will go

live next month. The Reserve Bank

has admitted it was no surprise

when the big banks increased

interest rates above the official

rise of 0.25%. The minutes of the

Melbourne Cup day meeting admitted

they spbgtd higher hikes. It blamed

rising funding costs and challenges

treasure Wayne Swan's call the

banks were not justified in lifting

the rates above the official level.

An ugly night on global share

markets, all started in markets, all started in Europe An ugly night on global share

Ireland causing the problems. Will

it go to the euro? European Union

for a bailout of its banks or not?

That is the big question. That has

started to spread right around the

US. As well. The Dow down over 200

points at one stage, at this very

minute it is down 165.5. To our

region yesterday, the All Ords up 9,

the ASX200 added 12. To the

commodities:

Now, because there is problems,

nervousness in global financial

community, there is, let's move to

there currencies, that's it. There

is a flight to quality. So nervous

investors go to the US dollar, it

pushes the US dollar up and us down. pushes the US dollar up and us down. investors go to the US dollar, it

All sorts of problems look, we will

talk about the Reserve Bank minutes

in a moment, but first, the

engagement of Wills and Kate, just

what the United Kingdom economy

needs Yes t will certainly help to

kick-start the United Kingdom

economy, if anything we have seen

over the GFC what an important

factor confidence plays in any sort

of recovery. I think the United

Kingdom public can now forget about

budget deficits. It will pick up in

tourism. So it will certainly get

through a very bleak winter. What

did our Reserve Bank Board Bore say

at the last meeting? It was a

touch-and-go decision when it came

to the rate hike, they highlighted

consumer activity was weak,

business inivistment was weak and

housing activity was dropping.

Despite that they decided to raise

rates. They encouragingly focused

on China and said the downside

riskerize diminishing. It is

interesting given the fact they

believe the resources boom is what

is going to driver the Australian

recovery going forward. A lot of

time was spent on banking funding

costs. They know the banks are

raising outside of the Reserve Bank

policy. They said there is no point

in delaying the hike because it

doesn't mean banks will have to

raise anywhere. Certainly

believeing the banks' funding costs

are certainly under pressure. Yes,

well, APRA has come up with

slightly different figures so it is

not as bad as everyone is saying,

OK, Sevanth, tow the party line,

good career decision. You mentioned

APRA but it is not as bad as it was

during the FGC but still elevated.

Good thank you, good try. Here is

Beretts with sport. He does work

for a bank. Two times premiership

captain tom Harley believes Israel

Falou has what it takes to switch

to AFL. He was front and centre as

the 18th team, Greater Western

Sydney Giants was unveiled and the

convert plans to be there for the

first competition game in 2012. I

wanted to put my head down and work

hard and get myself up to the

levels skills, the top AFL players.

The Kevin Sheedy's coached giants

will debut in next year's NAB Cup.

Ricky Ponting has warning Nathan

Horit swpg and Ricky Stewart not to

treat the match today a as a show

down for test selection. It is

believed whoever wins the spin

battle will have an inside running

for a berth in next week's series

opener at the Gabba. The coaching

career of Ricky Stewart will be

revived today when he is appointed

as coach for New South Wales. He

may not provide the Blues with a

long-term solution given he has a

two-year get out clause if he can

secure an NRL job. He led the Blues

to success in 2005. Now you see him,

now you don't, Grant Denyer, he has

a way of being here and being there,

a bit magic and today it is all

about magic? Yes, Beretts, today

will be a day you will never forget.

You know Jupiter's Hotel and Casino

give you a taste. You are going to

see some magic examples and

bewildered, bemystified and amazed

as to how they are performed. Like

this. That's magic. That is a dad

You will love it, now you see me,

now you don't, poof! Don't follow

me, Lee! We did it in rehearsal.

Magic. Can hardly wait. See you in

half an hour. Coming up would

sending teenagers to boot camp get

them on the right path in life. But

next, Kate Middleton to marry

Prince William, they share their

news with us on this special royal engagement edition of Sunrise. Here's another real Scratchies winner story. I was on the escalator and this lady was standing on the escalator next to me and she said, "Excuse me, have I won?" Three $5,000. I said, "Oh, my God, you've won! Yes!" So great morning for her. # Scratch me happy! #

Sunrise keeps in touch with the new

Black berry Pearl, thanks to our

friends at Telstra. You are waking

up to the news that Prince William

and Kate Middleton have publicly

announced their engagement. ITN

reporter Will Not is at Saint James

Palace. What did they have to say

the media? Well, since the

engagement was announced this

morning, messages of congratulation

have been pouring in from

dignitarys and members of the Royal

Family but the key question, when

will we hear and see them? A couple

of hours ago they did appear at a

photo call at Saint James Palace in

front of a bank of photographers

and were asked questions. Prince

William said the timing was right

and they were very happy, Kate

Middleton said it was daunting to

be joining the Royal Family but was

happy to take it in her stride and

Prince William used the same ring

that his father used to propose to

Diana, Princess of Wales. Let's

start with the obvious, where did

you propose? When? How? Daet, what

did you say? It was about three

weeks go on holiday in Kenya, we

had a little prive time away

together with some friends and I

just decide that it was the right

time, really. We had been talking

about marriage for a while, so it

wasn't massively big surprise but I

took her out somewhere nice in

Kenya and proposed. You knew you

were going to do it from day one of

the holiday or waited until the end.

I had been plan ting for a while

but as every guy knows out there,

it takes a bit of motivation, it

felt right, and it was beautiful at

the time, I had done a bit of

planning to share my romapbltic

side. Kate, you had been on holiday

a while, did you see it coming, was

he getting nervous and jumpy? No,

not at all, we were out there with

friends and familyjumps didn't

expect it at all I thought maybe he

thought about it and it was a total

shock and very excited. And

produced the ring? Yes, I had been

carrying it around in my rucksack

for three weeks before that and I

literally wouldn't let it go,

because I knew if it disappeared I

would be in a lot of trouble. I

planned it, it went fine alot of

horror stories and things go wrong

about proposing but it went well.

It is a family ring? Yes, my

mother's engagement ring. I thought

it would be nice, because obviously

she won't be around fooshare in the

fun and excitement so it is my way

of keeping it close to it all. We

better look. Are you an expert. I

am not an expert. I have been

reliable informed it is a sapphire

and diamonds but I am sure everyone

recognises it from previous times.

It is beautiful. You are going to

be the envy of everyone. I just

hope I look after it. If she loses

it, it is in trouble. It is very,

very special. People are bound to

ask, but an obvious question, do

you wants lots of children? See

what comes? I think we will take it

one step at a time, get over the

marriage thing first and look at

the kids. But obviously we want a

family, so we will have to start

thinking about that. Going back to

the start, because I think people

will be very curious, as I say,

about the totality of your

relationship, when did you first

set eyes on aeacherther and what

did you think. It is a long time

ago now, and I am trying to rack my

brain but we met at university at

Saint Andrews and we were friends

for over a year first and it sort

of blossomed from then on, spent

more time, had good giggle and lots

of fun and shared lots of interest.

She has a really naughty sense of

humour which helps me because I

have a dirty sense of humour. We

had a good laugh and things

happened. Kate, what did you think

of William? Not the same as meeting

your average university student.

Maybe it was? I don't know. What

was yourb first impression? Well, I

think when you actually said I went

bright red and scuttled off feeling

very high about meeting you.

William wasn't there for quite a

bit of the time initially, he

wasn't there for freshman's week so

it did take a bit of time for us to

get to know each other but we did

become very close friends from

quite early on. Thank you. Alright,

Will, we will have more of of the

interview later on in Sunrise,

thank you.. Have you ever heard her

talk before. No. She speaks very

well, done p doesn't she. I want to

know if he got down on his knee.

Whether he planned anything. But

carrying that ring in his rucksack

for three weeks! You would kill

him? Wouldn't you? If you were

Charles you would go, mate, it is

an expensive ring with memories. He

is surrounded by security all the

time, I don't think there was an

issueue of him geting mugsed. On

the way, a warning about a new

online scam. Next how the papers

are covering the engagement of Kate

Middleton and Prince William, this is a CHORUS: # Ah, ah # The sun shine down on me # What a day. # (BUZZ! BUZZ!) Sorry... VOICEOVER: In Victoria, hospitals have official ratios of one nurse to every four patients. But in NSW, hospitals have no mandatory nurse staffing levels at all. ring? It is a family ring, my

mother's engagement ring. I thought

it was nice because she is not

around to share in the fun and

excitement and it is my way of

keeping her close to it all. Prince

William has given Kate Middleton

his mum's engagement ring, there it

is. The prince proposed with a blue

sapphire and diamond ring that his

father gave to Diana back in 1981.

Diana was given to a choice, they

went to a jeweller and they loud

out a number and she chose that

particular one, it cost $46,000

from the the Crown gealers,

specially designed for her. Every

woman in the world, when he told

that story just went Aahhh...

Beautiful. I was surprised it was

Diana's ring, because I thought, I

don't know how I feel about that,

not that he really cares but then

when he talks about it and it means

so much and the, Diana is part of

it, I think it is lovely. 100% with

you, at first I went... But theres

was doomed, my gosh! We are softies.

Eventually, over a long period of

time. Talking about the dress,

Beretts is curious what designer

she will go with. Because there is

betting on it. The most famous ring

in the world, everyone knows the

ring. Let's look how the papers are

covering the story, here and around

the world, they have scrambleed to

print late editions. The Adelaide

Advertiser squeezes it to the front page.

More important, the bookies, what

is the latest on everything? Some

hot betting and I am just getting

the odds together but we are

tipping the odds together but we are

tipping a July and August wedding

but I will get the whole lot, the

church and the whole bit. The

women's magazines will be scrambling. women's magazines will be

scrambling. More of our exclueive

interview with Kate Middleton and

Prince William and also the

designers pitch if the dress. And

we ask why Australia is not

producing more international tennis

stars. And the code word you need,

that could help Will, on this

special edition of Sunrise.

Wake up in Waikiki as Sunrise does

Hawaii next week. A good honeymoon

destination? Wouldn't it? For Wills

and Kate? Perfect. We could be the

advance party. If you just tuned in,

Wills and Kate are getting tiched.

Hurray! They are going to marry in

the Northern Hemisphere summer, the

impact will be huge for the economy.

We don't care about the economy, we

are into the romance. After years

of speculation, the Kate Middleton

and Prince William have announced

their engagement. William poped the

question while the pair was on

holidays in Kenya last month. While

excited by the news, Britain's

Prime Minister has called for some

perspective. I think we also have

to remember this is two young

people who love each other and made

this announcement, looking forward

to their wedding and we must give

them plento of space to think about

the future. The pair met while

studying together add university

eight years ago. A South Australian

man will face courted to over the

stabbing murders of a couple and

their teenage daughter last week.

The 18-year-old was charged much to

the relief of locals who have been

live in fear. Local rattled a

killer may be among them. They

turned up at the Kapunda police

station to hear the news themselves

last night. Earlier on this evening

we have arrested an 18-year-old

Kapunda man. Police arrested the

man late yesterday afternoon.

Detectives then swooped on his home

to look for evidence. 16-year-old

Chantelle and her parents, Andrew

and Rose were allegedly murdered in

a frenzied stabbing attack. It is

believed the 18-year-old charged

man is a friend of Chantelle's

boyfriend. Locals had their own

reasons for coming to the police

station last night. Basically to

thank them for the man hours they

have put in to make the community

feel safe. I have been scared and

terrified.. I hop people understand

whoever has done this their family

needs support because they are part

of the community. In1818 has been

we have certainly reached a very

pleasing point. A man has died and

four others have been injured when

a car hit a tram pole in Melbourne

after appearing to skid outside of

minutes after it othered kch. The

# A view of Sydney this morning

Kate Middleton met Prince William

nearly nine years ago she went from

an unknown university students to

one of the most famous women in the

world. Comparisons with Diana are

inevitable and she is about to

pwhcome one of the most

photographed woman in the world.

The waiting is over. And Kate

Middleton, for so long a princess

in the wings, must now take to the

royal centre stage. Happy birthday,

Kate. That means facing the world's

cameras, coming out of the shadows

as the feaipbs ai of a future king.

It is the pressure only one other

woman could have understood. At 19,

Lady Diana Spencer was younger. But

she came from an aerostucratic back

ground. It must be a strain. Yes,

naturally. I am still around. This

is one I took at Windsor Castle.

Arthur Edwards has been

photographing the royals for

generations, taking some of the

most famous shots of Diana. He

predicts she will be compared to

Diana and generate as much if not

more public interest. If you think

it was bad in the early days of

Diana, it will be nothing compared

to this. It will just emergise the

Royal Family and. That is dangerous

for her personally? It is of course,

but I am sure she has been

counseled on this and sat down with

Prince Charles and other members of

the Royal Family and talked about

this. Press access to Kate has been very restricted. Preengagement,

limited mostly to long-lens photos

at public events. All that will now

change. Kate, young and beautiful

like Diana will matter to the

British fashion industry and Kate,

young and appealing like Diana will

matter to the British tourism

industry. If she follows Diana's

compassionate footsteps she could

make a difference to any charity.

She does have the potential to do

good. I think she has all the

characteristics to be a people's

princess but a much more modern one.

She is not as young as Princess

Diana was when she walked down the

aisles so she is older, wiser, more

educated and more cerebral and she

will make the role very much erher

own. Kate is also entering a family

which is older. And perhaps, a

little wiser than it was when so

much was expected of the last royal

princess. And this future princess

has a Fiance who will support her

and with whom she has a great deal

in common. Prince William can now

look back with love for his mother

just as he looks forward to a

future with his wife. Now, here is

Kochie. Next months marks the beginning of another spectacular

summer of tennis. Fans across the

country will be able to feel like

Grand Slam champion. These trophies

are heading all over Australia

before finishing their journey at

the twepblt11 Australian Open.

after player development for Tennis

Australia and Pat was saying there

is something missing between great

juniors we produce here in

Australia and them getting into the professional Rajesh Mirchandanis

professionals ranks. It is a hard

thing to put your finger on but one

of the things I have seen we have

got to get the players

understanding that there isn't

comfort zones and different levels

of tennis, futures, challenges and

the tour, you have got to aspire to

the tour and be the very, very best.

You can't take mead ocrate. You

have got to expose yourself, fail,

get back up on the horse and fail

and get up and win. It is why Pat

is going to be terrific. He drives

very good messages. A lovely guy,

everybody loves him but he has got

that bit of mongrel in him and

always has and can help us to

deliver the messages to the kids to

transition. We have had good

juniors, just got to get them into

good senior plaipers. We all love

the Australian Open. Love your

commentary. Thanks, Mr Potato Head.

My kids loved that the other day.

My kids thought it was terrific.

Throt I look more like a pool

cleaner but anyway, they thank you

for bursting the ego. Soon, South

Australian police make a

breakthrough in an arrest on a

triple murer, more on that from

Kapunda and should teens be sent to

boot camp and more on the royal

engagement as Wills and Kate make

it official. The reaction is coming

up in a live report from London when Sunrise continues.

Show business editor Nelson Aspen

is in Hollywood. Good morning to

you. We are excited and I sure

America is because everyone love as

Royal Family and a wedding. William

and Kate engaged. Any reaction from

Hollywood? Yes, we are only

slightly less royal obsesses, I

guess than you guys are but it is

certainly front-page news here. A

lot of it has to do with our

7 o'clock. Thank you, Britain's is

announcement of Kate Middleton and

Prince William to marry next year.

Martin, have they set a date yet?

Good morning, it is a great feeling

here in the United Kingdom today,

believe me, everybody is delirious

and really happy about this. They

haven't set a date apart from

saying it is spring or summer, the

smart money is July, the weather is

good then but they got to work out

where, in Westminster abbey or

Saunt Paul's Cathedral. William

explained why it took so long,

eight years, Kate was called Waity

Katie. He wanted to see how she

fitted in with the Royal Family

because it is a hard ask to join

that club and lee wanted to learn,

most importantly, from mistakes

made in the past. I can reveal that

high on the couple's mind just how

is how big, how lavish this wedding

should be. They are conscious that

everybody is having a tough time

with the economy so should it be an

austerity wedding or all bells and

whistles, a regal occasion.

Whatever, I reckon it will be the

royal wedding that most can

remember in our life time. In the

past hour, the future Queen of

Australia and her Fiance have been

talking in their first nrtd view?

We have been talking about marriage

for a while so it wasn't a surprise.

I took her out somewhere nice in

Kenya and proposed. It was very

romantic. A true romantic. Yes.

Just checking the response Kate is

now wearing Diana's ring? Indeed,

that is a very particular ring. It

is an heirloom he had it in the

rucksack for three weeks before he

went to Ken wru. He brought it out,

put it on her finger and wanted it

specifically to be his mother's

heirloom, it is a blue sapphire

surrounded by diamonds. She can't

be here but he wants her to be part

of the occasion. Martin Frizell in

London, thank you for the update.

story thf the day, Kate Middleton Prince William's engagementment.

Good morning to both of you. This

is such great news. We are very

excited. The happy couple have

explained how it all happens. What

did they say? Well, since the

engagement was announced Graham

Early this morning the world has

been waiting to see and hear from

the couple and they got the wish

when at Saint James Palace they

appeared in front of a mass of

media and answered questions.

William said the timing was right

and they were bogue very happy. He

also made a point about the ring he

used to propose. The ring of

that his father used with Diana,

princess of Wales. William said it

was his way of involving his late

mother and make sure she didn't

miss out. Kate said it was daunting

to join the royal faemp family and

wants to take it in her stride and

it was very romantic. After that

they sat down with my colleague,

Tom Bradby to give an interview. We

have a clip. Let's start with the

obvious, William, where did you

propose? Where? How? Kate, what did

you say? It was about three

ago in a holiday in Kenya, private

time away with friends and I just

decided it was the right time,

really. We had been talking about

marriage for a while. So it wasn't

massively big surprise but I took

her up somewhere nice in Kenya and

proposed. You knew you were going

to do this from day one of the

holiday or waited until the end? I

have been planning it for a while

but as every guy knows, for take as

certain amount of motivation to

goat yourself going. It fement

right, it was beautiful in Africa.

I had done planning to share my

romantic side. Kate you had been on

holiday a while, did you see it

coming. Getting nervous and jumpy?

Not at all, we were out there with

friends and things so I didn't

expect it at all. I thought he

might have, maybe thought about it,

but it was a total shock when it

came and very excited. And produced

the ring? Yes. There and then? I

did, I had been carrying it around

with my in my rucksack for about

three weeks. And I literally

wouldn't let it go because I knew

if it disappeared I would be in a

lot of trouble. I planned it, it

went fine, you know, you hear a lot

of horror stories about proposing

and things going horribly wrong but

it went really well and pleased she

said yes. It is a family ring? Yes,

a family ring, my mother's

engagement ring. Obviously she is

not arounds to share in the

excitement and fun and it is my way

of keeping her close to it all. We

better look at it. What kind of

ring? Are you an expert? SooI I

motan expert but I am reliably

assured it is a sapphire with

diamonds. People are bound to ask,

children? You want lots of

children? See what comes? I think

we will take it one step at a time,

get over the marriage thing first

and then maybe look at the kids.

But obviously we want a family. We

will have to start thinking about

that. When did you first set eyes

on each other and what did you

think? It is a long time ago now,

Tom, trying to rack my brain about

it all. But we obviously met at

universe tay at Saint Andrews and

we were friends for over a year

first and it just sort of blossomed

from the then on. We just spent

more time and had a good giggle,

had lots of fun and realised we

shared the same interests and had a

good time. It did take a bit of

time for us to get to know each

other but we did become very close

friends from quite early on. A

story that goes the rounds, you can

a picture of him on your... Wall.

There wasn't just one, there is 20.

He wishes no, I had the Levi's guy

guys on my wall, not a picture of

William. Sorry. It was me in Levis.

It makes her seem so normal, lovely.

They were very open with your

colleague, Tom, a lovely story? Yes

they were I think they were a

couple of remarkable thing about

Tom's interview. The first is how

candid and frank they were. We have

hardly heard from Kate Middleton in

the public and certainly hadn't

heard William talk about the

relationship in a frank manner.

They spoke about the break-up,

spoke about whether they will

possibly have children, made fun of

each other and the proposemal. The Thank you so much, we appreciate

your time, Rob, coming to you,

ailgt years in the making for this

engagement so I guess it was sort

of almost inevitable. Why do you

think it took so long? I think

Prince William has been protecting

Kate Middleton for some time. They

have been living together

effectively as man and wife in

Angleseae in North Wales for the

best parlt of a few months now and

didn't want to put her in the

spotlight. The whole world is

watching now and the wedding will

be watched by probably 100 million

people around the world. He was

protecting her. She hee saw what

happened to his mother. She is

still dear to him, the fabgtd the

ring is being used is an endearing

thing. He was just trying to look

after her. Inevitable comparisons

to Diana, his mother. Are theresly

similarities are are they

different? It is lovely Kate seems

older and knows what she is getting

herself in for? Well, Mel, I was

arounds, I am old enough and long

in the tooth to know, when Princess

Diana was at her height and met her

and spoke to her. There will be

inevitable comparisons and it will

be a shame because Diana was iconic

and a one off, a moment in time and

history and she should be

remembered for what she achieved in

her life dime, for Kate, I believe

Prince William and Kate as a royal

team can make a difference and it

is important. I don't think with

inCharles and Dianne relationship

there was splits and scandal and

all sorts of things. This is a new

beginning for the Royal Family. An

ordinary middle-class girl, not of

land and gentry, an ordinary girl

who married in the Royal Family and

I think it is fantastic news for

the British Royal Family, it is

time to come into the twenty-first

century and this girl can make a

real difference. The fact they have

been together for such a long time,

she knows what William's world is

like. She will be very aware of the

media scrutiny and everything that

goes with it, surely it will help

her in her role of future I mean?

No question. The fact is she spent

a long time, in fact, it was the

wisdom of Her Majesty the Queen,

both to William and Harry, if you

in a relationship, make sure you go

out with there girls for at least

five years. This is not like

entering a normal family. This is a

very difficultpub luck situation,

difficult for anyone to cope with.

Kate Middleton has had the the best

part of eight or nine years to

learn the ropes. She will learn the

engagement, a royal bodyguard with

her, I wrote about it on the

weekend, likely to be a female

bodyguard watching her 24 hours a

day. It happens now, very different

to the normal way of life. I think

she will cope, a very, very level-

headed lady and she will be a great

asset to this country. I am sure

William and Kate will be in

Australia very, very soon.? It is a

lovely story and we wish them all

the best, Rob, good to talk to you.

Here is Kochie. Local news now and

police have made an arrest over the

triple murder in the South

Australian town of Kapunda. A young

man will appear in court today,

charged with killing Andrew and

Rose Rowe and their 16-year-old

daughter, chon tell. Seven News

reporter Michelle Vella following

the story. Yes, a dramatic

development in one of the state's

most gruesome crimes. Late

yesterday afternoon, a Kapunda 18-

year-old man was arrested at the

local police station. Detectives

and frenz examers swoop said on his

home to gather evidence. The 18-

year-old is known do Chantelle and

believed he was part of her

friendship circle and close mate

with her boyfriend, Chantelle and

her parents were allegedly murdered

in a frenzied stabbing attack.

Their bodies were found by a family

friend last Monday morning. Now

news of the rest spread like wild

fire through Kapunda and 100 locals

turned out at the local piece

station to hear a press conference,

Sergeant Grant Moyle last night. I

would like to thank the community

for the support they have given us.

The general feeling was one of

absolute relief, here is what

residents had to say. To thank them

for the man hours they have put in

to make the community and town feel

safe. I have been scareed and

terrified. I hope people understand

that whoever has done this, their

family needs to have support as

well because they are a part of our

community. The general feeling in

Kapunda is the the latest

development will put locals at east.

Kochie. Michelle Vella in Kapunda,

here is Mel. Victorian teenagers

could be forced to attend boot camp

to teach life skills. The

compulsory camp would see them live

away from home for two weeks, and

taught values like self discipline

and even bushfire awareness. Good

morning, Brett, I know you run

similar camps to this, would it be

something that would help all

teens? Not just for those who are

troubled? Well, I mean, the boot-

camp style of teaching youth is

quite effect frb but when you are

talking about carte blanche, the

whole year nine of an entire state,

you know, I think there is a lot of

kids who do get lots in the crack

of the educational system could get

lost here. It comes down to (A) who

runs it and (B) who designs it. It

is two weeks, there has got to be

follow up. You don't want there

kids to learn the skills and sent

back to the school and the world

and no-one follows? That is the

crucial thing. In the 15 years I

have been running the boot camps

the cilgs thing that made it stick

was the follow up. It is where the

resource has been to be thrown in.

If you don't follow up the

experience, it is going to be a

waste of time. Most people say they

should be taught at home. Reality

is they are not. Is it the case? I

agree, traditionally, the troubled

kids I work with, the problem is

that their home life is not that

crash hot so you take them out of

poor environment, create an

atmosphere of outrageous

encouragement, learn the skills and

go back to the poor environment and

it is where the mentoring comes in.

Yes or no, a good idea? Yes, I

think it is good. Thank you, on the
