And Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman will call Australia home, for a while at least. The newly weds will return to Australia next month for the first time since their June nuptials. They'll attend the ARIA awards,

where Urban is expected to perform a song he wrote specially for his wife. Tickets for the awards go on sale tomorrow. To sport and to the AFL, where the West Coast Eagles are through to another preliminary final after a big win over the Western Bulldogs last night. The Eagles were 74-point victors in front of a packed house at Subiaco. The star-studded Eagles midfield overwhelmed the Doggies, the home team kicking eight goals to one in the second half. COMMENTATOR: The big Q, the big unit, whatever you want to call him, he's got half a dozen.

The result was a disappointing end for retiring Bulldogs defender Rohan Smith, who played his 300th and final game for the club. And last night's result sets up two all-interstate preliminary finals next weekend. The Fremantle Dockers will now play the Swans in Sydney on Friday night. While the Eagles take on the Crows from Adelaide on Saturday for a place in the Grand Final. To Rugby League, and the Brisbane Broncos have given Newcastle a lesson in finals football. The Broncos destroyed the Knights 50-6 in a record-breaking win in Sydney last night. Brisbane ran in eight tries to one for their first finals victory in four years. COMMENTATOR: Carroll away. Tate puts it on the inside for Lockyer and Lockyer becomes the club's highest point scorer.

The 44-point victory is the biggest finals winning margin in 62 years. And so the Broncos win sets up a big preliminary final match-up with the Bulldogs next week. Brisbane will play Canterbury on Friday night for a spot in the Grand Final. The Dragons will play Melbourne Storm on Saturday in the other Preliminary final. Rain has ruined Australia's chances of victory in their one-day match in Malaysia.

Ricky Pointing's men were all out for 244 in their clash against India, with Shane Watson scoring 79 as a makeshift opener. But India's innings was stopped short by heavy rain with the score at just 5/35. The rain a disappointment for Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, who took four wickets in just eight balls

to have the Indians in trouble. The match was abandoned in the eighth over. And finally, Adelaide United have stormed into the A-League top four after a big 3-0 win over Perth Glory last night. Adelaide's Brazilian forward Fernando was the star, with a brace of goals for the second consecutive match in a row. Now to Sunday's weather. Mostly fine in Cairns, but a few showers in Brisbane today. Sydney, fine and a top of 23 for 'TV Turns 50' tonight. Canberra, Hobart and Melbourne - all fine. 29 degrees in Adelaide.

Perth, some showers developing. And fine and 34 in Darwin. And looking further ahead.. Fining up in Brisbane.

Remaining fine in Sydney and Canberra. Some rain expected in Hobart on Tuesday. A late change in Melbourne mid-week. Fine in Adelaide tomorrow, but a shower or two on Tuesday. Showers easing in Perth. And all fine in Darwin.

and here's a road safety message you don't hear too often. Cyclists who wear helmets are more likely to be hit by vehicles than those who don't. Why? Well, according to a British university study quoted in the Age, it's because drivers give more leeway to cyclists without helmets,

because they perceive them to be less experienced.

The story has now fuelled debate in the UK about whether helmets should be compulsory. They're not yet. Even here in Australia, where helmets are complsory,

there are some who say they should be optional. say you look fabulous. What bum, you don't have.... Moving to

What do you think? And here's an interesting one from Sydney's Sun Herald. The mayor of the NSW town of Orange

has ordered a painting in an art gallery to be covered with a sheet. The graffiti-style work was painted by four Aboriginal sisters from Sydney. What's upset the mayor is the work contains swear words including both four letter words. Adults who want to view it are able to lift the sheet. But what do you think? Have standards for swearing changed in society, or is it now acceptable?

In the context of the work of art, is that

But next, the Muslim world's anger at the Pope. We'll hear from both sides when we return.

Well, overnight the Pope did something unprecedented, he issued a virtual apology. But his opponents have only grown angrier, threatening to launch an attack on the Vatican. So is this an over-reaction? Joining us now from Sydney is Keysar Trad

from the Islamic Friendship Association, who's in Melbourne. and Father John Dupuche,

Good morning to you both.

Keysar, we'll start with you, what did you think of the Pope's comments?

I was disappointed. He introduces as

the person who stated these comments as an the person who stated these comments

as an ar diet emperor. It

as an ar diet emperor. It indicates a certain sense of agreement. I can

see that the

see that the reaction is over the

top and I wish more people would

take these comments without

take these comments without this type of reaction and respond to it

through letters, through argument,

through reason. Islam is a faith

that strongly promotes and supports

reason as well as faith. I reason as well as faith. I believe

we have got plenty of material to be

able to respond to this. He also

says that

says that the verse that says "

says that the verse that says "no

compulsion in religion"

compulsion in religion". We compulsion in religion". We need to

advise him so he can tell right from wrong. Father Dupuche, there's been extraordinary reaction to the Pope's speech. What was the intention of his speech?

I agree with the comment about faith

and reason. That was the theme of

the hour-long address to the

the hour-long address to the members of the university in the of the university in the great Hall

there because he wanted to make the

point that western civilisation has

been based upon the marriage, if

been based upon the marriage, if you

like, of Christian faith and Greek

philosophy. And that the save lie

situation of the west depends upon

that marriage continuing, that if

faith is taken out of the equation,

then western culture will then western culture will disappear.

So he is really supporting the idea

that faith and reason must continue

to cooperate and that was really the

comment that caser made in his

earlier words at the beginning of

this program. That's his intention

and he surveys the whole range of

and he surveys the whole range of Christian thoughts over 2,000 years

Christian thoughts over 2,000 years to show how faith and reason have

worked very well together and how

this must continue.

If we accept this was one part

Avalon speech that was taken out of

context and in other parts of the

speech the Pope did speak very

forcefully about inter faith harmony,

harmony, nonetheless that part being

shown around the world is bound to create

create a response which

create a response which is very strong. How does the Pope

strong. How does the Pope overcome that, apart from what

that, apart from what he said

overnight? You have got a very good point there.

point there. It's one thing to make

a speech. It's another thing to anticipate what reporting will anticipate what reporting will be

made of the speech. Really

made of the speech. Really the speech ends up being what is reported about reported about it. So

reported about it. So I think that

in future speeches, the Pope

in future speeches, the Pope will have to take into very careful

consideration what the consideration what the reporting

will be about it. Because you can

have very good reporting, you can

also have, I think, bad reporting

and I think in this instance the

text has been taken out of context

so the result is quite predictable

and I don't blame at all - well, and I don't blame at all - well, I can

can understand anyway - the reaction

of people in India and Gaza and so

on when they get a gash ld version

of what he was saying?

of what he was saying?. Kay sar the

Pope has stond short of a full

apology. Do you think a full apology

will pull back some of the threats?

I don't condone the threats. It

I don't condone the threats. It takes a great man to apologise. The

greater you apologise the greater

your apology will be. Many people

throughout history are very

apologised when they have got things

incorrectly. In this particular

incorrectly. In this particular case there were incorrect things about

the prophet and the term means. To

most Muslims the term

most Muslims the term jihad means

being a good model citizen,

being a good model citizen, trying to be the best you can be. to be the best you can be. There is

a minority that looks at it

differently, that's acknowledged.

But again, taking these issues out

of con effects - imagine if the most

senior Muslim, if there was senior Muslim, if there was such a

person, was to make such comments

about cries. I personal I as a

Muslim would be appalled if a Muslim made such kojt. I

made such kojt. I would do my best

to make that Muslim realise

to make that Muslim realise cries

was a person who promoted piece and

love. Mohammad said my mission was

to teach people the higher standards

of ethics, to effect the way people

deal with one another. All these

people who love mow had am, some of

them are expressing it the wrong way. The prophet them are expressing it the wrong

way. The prophet Mohammad would be way. The prophet Mohammad would be

disappointed in their expression of

violence and he would want them to

go back to reason and argument and

to - Just quickly before we go, you

say you prefer there to be a

reasoned argument and you prefer the

facts to be set straight for

facts to be set straight for the

people of the world. Is there a

leaders who have the authority to

speak on behalf of Islam in doing

that? There are that? There are senior scholars

throughout the world, including our

own muf ty in the world. We are very

fortunate to have many in Australia.

I am confident they will all be

star power of'TV Turns 50'.

Ahead this morning -

We are counting down to'TV Turns

50'. Of course every good party

needs a gate crasher. Tonight we

will have two, will Farrell and John

C Reilly. They start in 'Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby'. Nelson Aspen, by the looks of you this is a racing movie?

Good morning Lisa and Andrew. Did my jacket give it away?

I know you have a huge party tonight for TV Turns 50. I caught up with this famous pair before they got on the plane to come Down Under and I have to tell you, they're not only pumped up about that, they're pumped up about his movie. I live and die by one motto, 'If you ain't first, you're last'. That's awesome. I know.

Welcome to the world of NASCAR.

Yep, I'm flying through the air, this is not good. God, I'm on fire! I'm on fire! You're not on fire, Ricky-Bobby. Help me, Jesus! Help me, Tom Cruise! Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell

plays racing extraordinaire Ricky Bobby. But in real life, like me, he prefers a good run. I brought this to show you. Look at you, your marathon... These are some of my marathon medals

and you're one of my celebrity running heroes. I should have worn mine. Well, you can't wear mine. What are the ones the, ah, the shells. This is Honolulu. Now, you've done New York and Boston is that corrcet? I have done New York and Boston and Kabul, Kabul, Afghanistan.

I didn't know Kabul had a marathon. Wow, that must have been warm. You're lucky to get through the 26 miles. Bobby is at the top of his game until he meets his match in new team-mate Jean Girard,

played by Ali G actor Sacha Baron Cohen. (both argue) I play for keeps. (both argue) I play for keeps. Ferrell shares a strange kissing scene with Cohen. There is a very climactic moment at the end of the movie. Did you actually climax? Ahhh, not that I know of. I may have. I wasn't conscious of it if I did. I know the feeling.

If I say 'peanut butter and...' Ladies. Yep. ...and jelly. Jelly? You like to put jelly on a lady? The great John C. Reilly plays the best friend. You are everybody's favourite character actor now. Oh, that's nice. So the comedy is a new thing. How did this wonderful union of you and Will come about? My whole life has been a series of expectations not met but other opportunities coming up. Every movie, from the very first movie I did, 20 years ago or 15, I don't know when it was, people said "When this comes out, it will change everything" and that never quite happened. My life happens in a sort of more organic, natural way. And sexy Leslie Bibb plays the trashy wife who moves from one best friend to the other.

We're getting married, Ricky, and we're getting matching leprechaun tattoes. Isn't that cute? With a little pot of gold. Is this some kinda joke? You guys puttin' me on? We just came up with a new nickname.

We got a new nickname. The Magic Man - 'Now you see me', 'now you don't'. So how did she get the role? "Will, check these out."

No, I did not. And I didn't sleep with anyone to get the job, which I hear is a good way to get a job, I won't do that again, 'cause it didn't work. No, I went in and I auditioned. You gonna let your sons talk to their grandfather like that, I'm their elder. I'm sure as hell am, Chip. I love the way they're talking to you.

They're winners. Winners get to do what they want. The one thing you've ever done with your life is make a hot daughter, that's it.

We wanted us some wussies, we would have named them Dr Quinn and Medicine Woman, OK? They're saying now that the era of the metrosexual manscape sort of leading man is over. Okay. And it's time for the retrosexual, you know, a little fleshier, manners only sometimes there. Absolutely. I think this is a film that will be in sociology classes in the future. This will be put up on the mantle

as the leading film in the retrosexual movement. You've got to learn to drive with the fear. Ahh! He's on me! Quick! Ricky, control your heart rate. I can't control my heart rate, I got a cougar on me! Guys, if you liked 'Anchor Man', you'll probably like this too. I pretty much laughed the whole way through even though it's a little ridiculous in parts,

but you just can't help yourself. Now, for your party tonight, the guys have touched down, say hello to for me. And from Hollywood to Australia, Happy birthday, television!

Good morning. Islamic miliant groups have threatened to launch attacks on the Vatican over Pope Benedict's controversial comments on Muslims. The Pope made the remarks at a speech in Germany appearing to link Islam's religious principles to violence. The incident has sparked protests around the world but Australia's Muslim leaders are calling for calm. The reaction is over the top

and I wish more people would take these comments

without this type of reaction and respond through letters, through argument through reason. Others say the Pope's speech was misinterpreted. And I think in this instance the text has been taken quite out of context and so the result is quite predictable. Pope Benedict has expressed regret for any offence caused by his remarks.

Back home, the Government is expected to announce the details of its planned changes to Australia's citizenship process today. Under the reforms, migrants would be forced to pass

an English and Australian history test before receiving their citizenship. The Prime Minister says it will give would-be citizens a greater understanding of the nation's customs and values.

He says new arrivals who are fair dinkum about becoming an Australian will have no trouble with the tests. One man is dead and two others have been critically injured, in a high speed boat crash in Sydney overnight. The speed boat and a half cabin cruiser collided head on

near Kangaroo Point on the Georges River. The speed boat driver was killed instantly, while his female passenger, and seven people aboard the cruiser were also injured. The force of the impact had thrown some of the males from the larger boat to the smaller boat and several of the half cruisers occupants had also be thrown into the water.

Two of the passengers were airlifted to hospital. They're in a stable condition. A 21-year old Melbourne man has been charged with assault following an incident on a train early Saturday morning. A 20-year-old man is in a serious condition, after he jumped from a moving train to escape his attacker. Security cameras caught the assault on tape.

The video allegedly shows the accused repeatedly punching the victim,

before attacking him with a bottle. The man has been remanded in custody and will appear in Melbourne Magistrate's Court tomorrow. High profile Liberal candidate Pru Goward is likely to be given a second chance at her political career today. Ms Goward lost her preselection battle for the New South Wales seat of Epping yesterday. But the Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner is now the hot favourite for the new seat of Goulburn,

following the withdrawal of its sitting member. Nomination for Goulburn's preselection will open today. And a who's who of Australian television will gather in Sydney tonight for the industry's 50th birthday bash. TV's half century will be honoured at a special live three-hour event here at Sydney's Star City Casino more than 70 performers will take to the stage as TV's top 20 moments are counted down.

When you think back over 50 years you think a lot has happened and been beamed into our lounge rooms. The show starts at 7:30 tonight here on seven.

The result was a disappointing end

for retiring Bulldogs defender Rohan Smith,

who played his 300th and final game for the club. And last night's result sets up two all-interstate preliminary finals next weekend. The Fremantle Dockers will now play the Swans in Sydney

on Friday night.

Brisbane will play Canterbury on Friday night

for a spot in the Grand Final. Melbourne Storm on Saturday in the other Preliminary final. Rain has ruined Australia's chances of victory in their one-day match in Malaysia.

But India's innings was stopped short by heavy rain with the score at just 5/35. The rain a disappointment for Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Johnson,

Now to Sunday's weather. 29 degrees in Adelaide. Perth, some showers developing. And fine and 34 in Darwin. And looking further ahead.. Fining up in Brisbane. Remaining fine in Sydney and Canberra. So could it be because of Peter Costello's now infamous remarks? Remember this?
