Impact of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan on regional Australia
Final

CHAIR (Mr Windsor) —I declare open this private briefing of the Standing Committee on Regional Australia inquiring into the impact of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan on regional Australia. Although the committee does not require you to give evidence under oath, I should advise you that this hearing is a legal proceeding of the parliament and therefore has the same standing as proceedings of the respective houses. We received a written submission this morning and, even though we have not had time to go through it totally, it looks like a very good submission in terms of the type of detail we have been looking for. So we thank you for that. We will leave it in your hands a bit. Obviously, we would like to ask some questions about your submission; if we could have an outline of the submission and some of its key points, then we might go to some questions. Also, we would like to raise further issues that have been raised with us in St George, Goondiwindi and other areas.
