CHAIR (Mr Perrett) —I declare open this public hearing of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs inquiry into the regulation of billboard and outdoor advertising. I would like to acknowledge the Ngunawal and Ngamberri people, the traditional custodians of this land, and pay our respects to the elders both past, present and future. The committee also acknowledges the present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area and thank them for their continuing stewardship of this land. These meetings are formal proceedings of parliament. Everything said should be factual and honest, and it can be considered a serious matter to attempt to mislead the committee.
