VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS
OF THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
TUESDAY, 1ST OCTOBER, 1901.
1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers.
2. PAPER.-Mr. Barton presented, by command of His Excellency the Governor-General-Correspondence relating to the proposed alteration of the Royal Style and Titles of the Crown. Ordered to lie on the Table.
3. IMMIGRATION RESTRICTION BILL.-The Order of the Day for the further consideration of this Bill in Committee of the whole House having been read-Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. SMr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had gone through the
Bill, and agreed to the same with amendments. Mr. Barton moved, by leave, That the Bill be now recommitted to a Committee of the whole House for the reconsideration of clause 9, and the consideration of a proposed new-clause. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair ; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had reconsidered clause 9, and agreed to the same with an amendment, and had added a new clause. Ordered-That the consideration of the Reports be made an Order of the Day for to-morrow.
4. PROPERTY AcQUISITION BILL.-The Order of the Day for the second reading of this Bill having been read-Sir William Lyne moved, That the Bill be now read a second time. Debate ensued. Mr. Glynn moved, That the debate be now adjourned. Question-That the debate be now adjourned-put and resolved in the affirmative. Ordered-That the resumption of the debate be made an Order of the Day for to-morrow.
5. ADJOURNMENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at twenty-nine minutes past ten o'clock p.m., adjourned until to-morrow, at half-past two o'clock p.m.
