3. PAPER.-Mr. Barton presented, by command of His Excellency the Governor-General-Naval Defence of the Commonwealth of Australia.-Copy of Minute by the Right Honorable the Prime Minister to His Excellency the Governor-General, asking His Excellency to obtain from His Excellency the Admiral commanding on the Australian Naval Station
a statement of his opinions on the subject of the Naval Defence of the Commonwealth of Australia.
Ordered to lie on the Table, and to be printed.
4. DAYS OF MEETING AND ORDER OF BUSINESS.-Mr. Barton moved, pursuant to notice-1. That, after this day, until otherwise ordered, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in each week during the present session be the days on which this House shall meet for the despatch of business; and that Two o'clock be the hour of meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, and
that Ten o'clock be the hour of meeting on Friday. 2. That on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in each week during the present session Government business do, until otherwise ordered, take precedence of all other business.
Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
5. POST AND TELEGRAPH BILL.-The Order of the Day for the further consideration of this Bill in Committee of the whole House having been read-Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had made progress in
the Bill, and that he was directed to ask, That the Committee may have leave to sit again. Resolved-That the House will, to-morrow, again resolve itself into the said Committee. 6. ADJOURNMENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. And then the House, at two minutes to eleven o'clock p.m., adjourned until to-morrow at two o'clock
p.m.
