1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers.
2. MESSAGES FROM His EXCLLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.-ASSENT TO BILLS.- The following Messages. from His Excellency the Governor-General were presented by Mr. Barton, and the same were read by Mr. Speaker :-HOPETOUN,
Governor-General. Message No. 10.
A Bill intituled "An Act for the Interpretation of Acts of Parliament and jbr Shortening their Language," as finally passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth, having been presented to the Governor-General for the Royal Assent, His. Excellency has, in the name of His Majesty, assented to the said Bill.

A Bill intituled "An Act to grant and apply out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum qf Qne million ten thousand seven hundred and thirty-two pounds to the service of the year endiny the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and two," as finally passed by the Senate and tlie House of Representatives of the Commonwealth, having been presented to the Governor-
General for the Royal Assent, His Excellency has, in the name of His Majesty, assented to the said Bill.

3. PAPEm.-Mr. Barton presented-Defence Forces of Commonwealth.-Statement showing the number in each of the several' States of the Permanent Soldiers, Militia, Volunteers, and memblers of Rifle Clubs. Ordered to lie on the Table.
4. SUPPLY.-The Order of the Day for going into the Committee of Supply under the provisions of Stand-ing Order No. 241 having been read--Question-That Mr. Speaker do now leave the Chair-put and negatived Sir George Turner moved, That the House will, to-morrow, resolve itself into the said Com-
mittee. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.

5. AuIrr BILL.-The Order of the Day for the consideration of the Committee's further Report on this Bill having been read-Sir George Turner moved, That the Report be now adopted. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. On the motion of Sir George Turner the House ordered the Standing Orders to be suspended so as
to allow the Bill to be read a third time this day. Sir George Turner moved, That this Bill be now read a third time. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Bill read a third time.
6. CusToms BILL.-The Order of the Day for the further consideration of this Bill in Committee of the whole House having been read-Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had made progress in
the Bill, and that he was directed to ask, That the Committee may have leave to sit again. Resolved-That the House will, on Tuesday next, again resolve itself into the said Committee.
7. ADJOURNM ENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at thirty-three minutes past ten o'clock p.m., adjourned until to-morrow at two o'clock p.m.
