1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers.
2. PETITIONS.-Mr. Knox presented a Petition from certain ship-owners and shipping agents of the Port of Melbourne, engaged in the State, Inter-State, and oversea carrying trade, praying that the House would so amend the Inter-State Commission Bill as to exclude from its scope all the provisions relating to carriers by sea. Petition received and read. Sir Langdon Bonython presented a similar Petition from certain companies and persons in the
State of South Australia engaged or interested in the business of carrying goods and passengers, by sea between the States or between the States and places not in the Commonwealth. Petition received. Sir Langdon Bonython moved, That the Petition be read. Debate ensued. Question-put. The House divided-

Mr. Piesse presented a Petition from certain Tasmanian citizens of the Australian Commonwealth, praying that the House would take immediate steps to suppress and prevent the operations of the institution commonly called "Tattersall's," and to insure that the Post Office of the Common-wealth shall not be degraded into being a vehicle for facilitating gambling.
Petition received.
3. AUDrr BILL.-The Order of the Day for the consideration of the Report on this Bill having been read-Sir George Turner moved, That this Bill be now recommitted to a Committee of the whole House. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had gone through the
Bill and agreed to the same with further amendments. Ordered----That the further Report be taken into consideration to-morrow.
4. PUBLIC SERVICE BILL.-The Order of the Day for the consideration of the further Report on this Bill having been read-Sir William Lyne moved, That the Report be now adopted. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Sir William Lyne moved, That this Bill be now read a third time. Debate ensued. Mr. V. L. Solomon moved, That the Standing Orders be suspended in order to enable a motion for
the recommittal of the Bill to be moved. Debate ensued. Qaestion-put and resolved in the affirmative. Mr. V. L. Solomon moved, That this Bill be now recommitted to a Committee of the whole House. Debate ensued. Motion, by leave, withdrawn. Mr. G. B. Edwards moved, That this Bill be now

5. CUSTOMS BILL.-The Order of the Day for the further consideration of this Bill in Committee of the whole House having been read-Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had made progress in
the Bill, and that he was directed to ask, That the Committee may have leave to sit again. Resolved--That the House will, after the consideration of the next Order of the Day, again resolve itself into the said Committee.
6. INTER-STATE COMMISSION BILL.-The Order of the Day for the second reading of this Bill having been read-Sir William Lyne moved, That this Bill be now read a second time. Mr. Reid moved, That the debate be now adjourned. Question-That the debate be now adjourned-put and resolved in the affirmative. Ordered-That the debate be adjourned until Wednesday next.
