HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
FRIDAY, 12TH JULY, 1901.
1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers.
2. PiETITION.--Mr. Piesse presented a Petition from Sarah Wilkins and Bessie S. Kirby, styling them-selves President and Acting Secretary respectively of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of Hobart, praying that the House would take immediate steps to suppress and prevent the operations of the institution commonly called " Tattersall's," and to insure that the Post-office of the Commonwealth shall not be degraded into being a vehicle for facilitating gambling. Petition received.
3. PauRINTI COMMITTEE-REPORT FROM-Sir John Quick, Chairman, brought up the First Report from the Printing Committee.
The Report was read by the Clerk, and is as follows:-REPORT.
The Printing Committe3 have the honour to submit the attached Schedule, showing their recommendations on the Papers and Petitions referred to them. JOHN QUICK, House of Representatives, Chairman.

4. NATIONAL DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND PRODUCTIVE INDUSTRIES.-The Order of the Day for the resumption of the debate on the question, That, in the opinion of this House, a National Department of Agriculture and Productive Industries, on the same lines as that of the United States of America, ought to be organized and maintained in connexion with the Government of the Commonwealth-having been read-Debate resumed.
Mr'. Sydney Smith moved, That the debate be now adjourned, Question-That the debate be now adjourned-put and resolved in the affirmative. Ordered-That the debate be adjourned until Friday, 26th July instant.
5. MEMBERS PRESENT.-All Members present except-The Minister of Home Affairs (The Honorable Sir William Lyne, K.C.M.G.), The Minister of Defence (The Right Honorable Sir John Forrest, P.C., G.C.M.G.), the Honorable Sir Philip Fysh, K.C.M.G., and Messrs. Bamford, Batchelor, Sir Langdon Bonython, The Right Honorable Sir Edward Braddon, P.C., K.C.M.G., Messrs. Brown, Cameron, Joseph Cook, Fisher, Fowler, Glynn, A. C. Groom, W. H. Groom, Harper, Kennedy, Knox, Macdonald-Paterson, McCay, Sir William McMillan, Messrs. Paterson, Sawers, Bruce Smith, V. L. Solomon, Spence, Watkins, and Wilks.
6. ADJOURNMENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at five minutes to four o'clock p.m., adjourned until Tuesday next, at half-past two o'clock p.m.
