WEDNESDAY, 10TH JULY, 1901.
1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers.
2.'COMMITTEE OF ELECTIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS -REPORT FROM.-Sir Edward Braddon, Chairman, brought up the Report from the Committee of Elections and Qualifications upon the second Petition of William Eddrup Adcock against the return of Elias Solomon as Member for Fremantle, Western Australia. The Report was read by the Clerk, and is as follows -
REPORT.
The Committee of Elections and Qualifications have the honour to report as follows on the second Petition of William 1ddrup Adcock against the return of Elias Solomon for the Electoral District of Fremantle, in the State of Western Australia :-
Your Committee find that the Petition of William Eddrup Adcock, now presented, dated the 8th of May, 1901, is the same in substance as that dated the 7th of May, 1901, reported on by your Committee on the 14th of June last, and as the matter has already been heard and determined, your Committee recommend that the Petition be not entertained.

Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Mr. Barton moved, That the Report be adopted by this House, and the Petition dismissed. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
3. PETITION.-Sir Edward Braddon presented a Petition from certain citizens and ratepayers of the State of Tasmania in the Commonwealth of Australia, praying that the House will reject clause 54 of the Post and Telegraph Bill. Petition received.
4. FEMALE EMPLOYES IN THE SERVICE OF THE COMMONWEALTH.-Mr. McColl moved, pursuant to notice, That there be laid before this House a Return showing-1. The number of female employ6s in the service of the Commonwealth, giving the Depart-ments in which they are employed.
2. The average salary paid to female employ6s, and the total amount paid to them. 3. The number now receiving a salary of £110 per annum. 4. The additional amount that will be required to bring the salary of all female employs to £110 per annum.
5. The answers to the foregoing requests to give their application to each State separately.
Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.

5. CUSTOMS BILL.-The Order of the Day for the resumption of the debate on the question, That this Bill be now read a second time, having been read-Debate resumed. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.-Bill read a second time. Mr Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had made progress in the
Bill, and that he was directed to ask, That the Committee may have leave to sit again. Resolved-That the House will, to-morrow, again resolve itself into the said Committee. 6. MEMBERS PRESENT.-All Members present except-The Minister of Home Affairs (The Honorable Sir William Lyne, K.C.M.G.), The Minister of Defence (The Right Honorable Sir John Forrest,
P.C., G.C.M.G.), The Honorable Sir Philip Fysh, K.C.M.G., and Messrs. Bamford, Batchelor, Sir Langdon Bonython, Messrs. Brown, Cameron, Fowler, Glynn, W. H. Groom, Kennedy, Knox, Macdonald-Paterson, F. E. McLean, Paterson, Sawers, Bruce Smith, V. L. Solomon, and Spence.
7. ADJOURNMENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at thirty-three minutes past ten o'clock p.m., adjourned until to-morrow at half-past two o'clock p.m.
