VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
TUESDAY, 2ND JULY, 1901.
1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers. 2. PAPERS.-The following Papers were laid upon the Table by the Clerk :-Permanent Military Forces of Australia.-Return to an Order of the House, dated 14th June, 1901.
Colonial Ammunition Company.-Lease and copy of further Agreement with the Victorian Government. Severally ordered to lie on the Table.
3. PUBLIC SERVICiE BILL.-The Order of the Day for the further consideration of this Bill in Committee of the whole House having been read-Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had made progress in
the Bill, and that he was directed to move, That the Committee may have leave to sit again. Resolved-That the House will, to-morrow, again resolve itself into the said Committee. 4. M[EMBEurS PRESENT.-All Members' present except-The Honorable Sir Philip Fysh, K.C.M.G., and Messrs. Brown, Cameron, Chapman, Conroy, Joseph Cook, G. B. Edwards, R.. Edwards, Fuller,
Glynn, W. H. Groom, Hughes, Kennedy, Knox, Macdonald-Paterson, McDonald, F. E. McLean, Paterson, Sawers, Sydney Smith, V. L. Solomon, Spence, Thomas, Thomson, Watkins, Wilks, and Willis.
5. ADJOURNMlENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at thirteen minutes past eleven o'clock p.m., adjourned until to-morrow at half-past two o'clock p.m.
