HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
FRIDAY, 21sT JUNE, 1901.
1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers.
2. MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE.-CONSOLIDATED REVENUE BILL (No. 2).-Mr. Speaker announced the receipt of the following Message from the Senate:-MR. SPEAKER, The Senate returns the Bill herewith intituled " An Act to apply out of the Consolidated
Revenue Fund the sum of Four hundred and ninety-one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two pounds to the service of the period ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and one," with the suggestions set forth in the annexed memorandum, in which suggestions the Senate requests the concurrence of the House of Representatives.

MEMORANDUM Of Suggestions made by the Senate in the Bill intituled "An Act to apply out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of Four hundred and ninety-one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two pounds to the service of the period ending the thirtieth day of June, One thousand nine hundred and one." No. 1. In the Title. In line 1, after initial words " An Act to," insert "grant and." No. 2. Leave out the words of recital, viz., " For the purpose of appropriating the grant made
by the House of Representatives." No. 3. In page 1, line 6 (clause 1, line 2), after "supply," insert "hereby." Ordered-That the foregoing Message be forthwith taken into consideration in Committee of the whole House. Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. V. L. Solomon, Temporary Chairman, reported that the Com-
mittee had made the requested amendments numbered 1 and 3; and had made requested amendment numbered 2 with modifications. On the motion of Mr. Barton the House adopted the Report, and ordered that the Bill be returned to the Senate with the following Message:-
MR. PRESIDENT,
The House of Representatives returns to the Senate the Bill intituled " An Act to apply out oJ the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of Four hundred and ninety-one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two pounds to the service of the period ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and one," and acquaints the Senate that the House of Representatives has
considered the Message of the Senate requesting this House to make certain amendments in such .Bill, and has made the requested amendments numbered 1 and 3, and in the case of requested amendment numbered 2 has made such amendment with the modifications appearing by the
Schedule.

3. ALIENS IN QUEENSLAND.-Mr. Hume Cook (for Mr. Ewing) moved, pursuant to notice, That there be laid before this House a Return showing-1. The number of aliens in Queensland. 2. The nationalities to which they belong.
3. The localities in which they are employed. 4. The vocations they follow. 5. The numbers and particulars in detail in connexion with Nos. 3 and 4.
Question--put and resolved in the affirmative.
4. MnEMBjERS PRESENT.-All Members present except-The Minister of Home Affairs (The Honorable Sir William Lyne, K.C.M.G.), the Minister of Defence (The Right Honorable Sir John Forrest, P.C., G.C.M.G.), and the Honorable Sir Philip Fysh, K.C.M.G., and Messrs. Brown, Chanter, Joseph Cook, Cruickshank, Fuller, Glynn, Harper, Kennedy, Macdonald-Paterson, McColl, Sir Malcolm McEacharn, F. E. McLean, Phillips, Reid, Bruce Smith, Watkins, Wilkinson, and Wilks,
5. ADJOURNMENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at seventeen minutes past four o'clock p.m., adjourned until Tuesday next at half-past two o'clock p.m.
