1. The House met pursuant to adjournment.-Mr. Speaker took the Chair, and read Prayers. 2. COMMITTEE OF ELECTIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS-REPORT FROM.-Sir Edward Braddon, Chairman, brought up the Report from the Committee of Elections and Qualifications upon the Petition of William Eddrup Adcock against the return of Elias Solomon as Member for Fremantle,
Western Australia. The Report was read by the Clerk, and is as follows:-REPORT.
The Committee of Elections and Qualifications have the honour to report as follows on the Petition of William Eddrup Adcock against the return of Elias Solomon for the Electoral District of Fremantle, in the State of Western Australia:-
Your Committee find that the Petitioner, William Eddrup Adcock, has not complied with the law of the State of Western Australia relating to Parliamentary Elections, and your Committee therefore recommend that the Petition be not entertained. E. BRADDON,

MINIMUM RATE OF WAGE AND MAXIMUM HOURS OF LABOUR IN GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS.-The Order
of the Day for the resumption of the debate on the question-That, in the opinion of this House, it is the duty of the Government to make provision in all its contracts for the payment of a minimum rate of wage, and for the fixing of a maximum number of hours of labour-having been read-Debate resumed.4. MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE.-Mr. Speaker announced the receipt of the following Message from the Senate':-Mr. SPEAKER, Message No. 3. The Senate returns to the House of Representatives the Bill intituled " An Act to apply out of the Commonwealth Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of Four hundred and ninety-one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two pounds to the service of the period ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and one," with the respectful request that the House of Representatives will so amend the Bill that it may show the items of expenditure comprised in the sums which the Bill purports to grant to His Majesty.R. C. BAKER, The Senate,' President. 14th June, 1901.Mr. Barton moved, That the Message be taken into consideration forthwith. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Mr. Barton then made a statement to the House in reference to the request of the Senate, and moved, That the Bill be laid aside. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.

5. CONSOLIDATED REVENUE BILL (No. 2).-Sir George Turner moved, That the Standing Orders be suspended so as to allow of a Supply Bill being introduced and passed through all its stages this day. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. Sir George Turner moved, That the Clerk read the Resolution reported from the Committee of Ways
and Means and adopted by this House on the 12th June instant. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative. And the said resolution was read by the Clerk as follows:-Resolved-That towards making good the supply granted to His Majesty for the service
of the period ending 30th June, 1901, the sum of £491,882 be granted out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
Ordered-That Sir George Turner do prepare and bring in a Bill to carry out the foregoing resolution. Sir George Turner then brought up a Bill intituled "A Bill to apply out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sum of Four hundred and ninety-one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two
pounds to the service of the period ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and one," and moved, That it be now read a first time. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.-Bill read a first time, ordered to be printed, and read a second time this day. Sir George Turner moved, That this Bill be now read a second time. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.-Bill read a second time. Mr. Speaker left the Chair, and the House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole. Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair; Mr. Chanter reported that the Committee had gone through the
Bill and agreed to the same with an amendment. On the motion of Sir George Turner the House adopted the Report. Bill read a third time.
S7. MINIMUM RATE OF WAGE AND MAXIMUM HOURS OF LABOUR In GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS.--The
debate on this subject, interrupted by proceedings above recorded resumed--Mr. Salmon moved, That the debate be now adjourned. Question-That the debate be now adjourned-put and resolved in the affirmative. Ordered-That the debate be adjourned until Friday, 28th June instant.
7. EXEMPTION TICKETS GRANTED TO KANAKAS.-Mr. Bamford moved, pursuant to notice, That there be laid before this House a Return showing-1. The number of kanakas to whom exemption tickets have been granted under the provi-sions of section 11 of the Pacific Island Labourers Act Amendment Act of 11090 (47
Vic. No. 12). 2. The number of kanakas, so. far as is ascertainable, now in Queensland to whom such exemption tickets have been granted.
Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
8. PERMANENT MILITARY FORCES OF AUSTRALIA.-Mr. Crouch moved, pursuant to notice, That there be laid before this House a Return showing-1. The number of non-commissioned officers and men in the Permanent Military Forces of Australia on the 1st March last.
2. How many of these were officially known to be married on that date. 3. How many men were dismissed or discharged or had deserted during the previous twelve months, distinguishing the different States.
Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
9. MEMBERS PRESENT.-All Members present except-Messrs. Batchelor, Cameron, Chapman, Fuller, A. C. Groom, W. H. Groom, Harper, Hughes, Isaacs, Kennedy, Macdonald-Paterson, Manifold, McCay, McColl, Phillips, Reid,. Sydney Smith, Thomas, Thomson, Watkins, Watson, and Wilkinson.
10. ADJOURNMENT.-Mr. Barton moved, That the House do now adjourn. Debate ensued. Question-put and resolved in the affirmative.
And then the House, at nine minutes past four o'clock p.m., adjourned until Wednesday next at half-past two o'clock p.m.
