    20   INSTRUMENT OF DESIGNATION OF THE INDEPENDENT STATE OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA AS A REGIONAL PROCESSING COUNTRY—DEFERRED DIVISION

The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the motion of Mr Bowen (Minister for Immigration and Citizenship)— and on the amendment moved by Mr Bandt

The following question, on which a division had been called for and deferred in accordance with standing order 133, was put—

Question—That the amendment be agreed to ( see item No. 14, page 1841).

The House divided and only Mr Bandt and Mr Wilkie voting “Aye”, the Acting Speaker (Ms A. E. Burke) declared the question resolved in the negative.

Question—That, in accordance with subsection 198AB of the Migration Act 1958 , the House approve the instrument of designation of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea as a regional processing country—put.

The House divided and only Mr Bandt and Mr Wilkie voting “No”, the Acting Speaker (Ms A. E. Burke) declared the question resolved in the affirmative.
