      2   DEATH OF sapper rowan Jaie robinson

Ms Gillard (Prime Minister) referred to the death of Sapper Rowan Jaie Robinson, and moved—That the House record its deep regret at the death of Sapper Rowan Jaie Robinson on 6 June 2011, while on combat operations in Afghanistan, and place on record its appreciation of his service to the country and tender its profound sympathy to his family in their bereavement.

Mr Abbott (Leader of the Opposition) seconded the motion, and Mr S. F. Smith (Minister for Defence) and Mr Robert addressed the House in support thereof.

All Members present having risen, in silence—

Debate adjourned (Mr Albanese—Leader of the House), and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for a later hour this day.

Mr Albanese, by leave, moved—That the order of the day in relation to the death of Sapper Rowan Robinson be referred to the Main Committee for debate.
