On 19 March 2014, the Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Abetz) made a statement to the Senate in relation to the Assistant Treasurer (Senator Sinodinos): ‘I inform the Senate that, given the announcement by Senator Sinodinos that he has voluntarily stood aside from his role as Assistant Treasurer while the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s inquiry into Australian Water Holdings Pty Ltd is underway, Senator Cormann will take questions on behalf of the Treasury portfolio until further notice’.
