Notice given 23 March 1999

611  Senator Faulkner: To ask the Minister representing the Prime Minister—

(1) Has the Prime Minister, his office, his Parliamentary Secretary, the Parliamentary Secretary’s office, or any senior executive service level officer in his department or any agency in his portfolio, been approached by either Mr Mark Textor, or any other person representing Australasian Research Strategies Pty Ltd regarding the proposal by Pangea Resources Pty Ltd/British Nuclear Fuels Limited (Pangea/BNFL) to store nuclear waste in Australia; if so, what are the circumstances of the approach.

(2) In any direct approach from Pangea/BNFL, or anyone acting on behalf of Pangea/BNFL, regarding this matter, has any research or polling material undertaken by Mr Textor, or Australasian Research Strategies, been provided to the Prime Minister, his office, his Parliamentary Secretary, the Parliamentary Secretary’s office, or any senior executive service level officer in his department or any agency in his portfolio; if so: (a) what was the nature of the research; and (b) what was the conclusion drawn from the research.
