27    Family and Community Services—International Day of People with Disability

Senator Siewert, also on behalf of Senators Moore and Lindgren, pursuant to notice of motion not objected to as a formal motion, moved general business notice of motion no. 995—That the Senate—

    (a)   notes that:

                  (i)   3 December 2015 was International Day of People with Disability,

                 (ii)   the theme for 2015 was ‘Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities’, and

                (iii)   the three sub-themes are:

                  ( a )   making cities inclusive and accessible for all,

                  ( b )   improving disability data and statistics, and

                  ( c )   including persons with invisible disabilities in society and development;

    (b)   acknowledges that International Day of People with Disability is an opportunity for the community to make positive changes to the lives of 4 million Australians;

     (c)   urges government at all levels to take action to develop inclusive and accessible communities; and

    (d)   encourages all Australians to get involved in the celebrations in their local community by visiting
