28    Regional Australia— Northern and regional Queensland

Senator Urquhart, at the request of Senator Chisholm and pursuant to notice of motion not objected to as a formal motion, moved general business notice of motion no. 624—That the Senate—

               (a)       notes that the Prime Minister:

                                     (i)       has failed to represent people in northern and regional Queensland,

                                    (ii)       has failed to connect with people in northern and regional Queensland and identify with their values, and

                                  (iii)       is only concerned with Brisbane and the south-east; and

               (b)       applauds Senator Macdonald for calling out the Prime Minister’s neglect of northern and regional Queensland.

Leave refused : Senator Macdonald sought leave to move an amendment to the motion. An objection was raised and leave was not granted.

Statement by leave : The Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister (Senator McGrath), by leave, made a statement relating to the motion.
