Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

 Message no. 711, dated 19 June 2013—A Bill for an Act relating to service provision for the sugar industry, and for related purposes.

 Message no. 717, dated 20 June 2013—A Bill for an Act to deal with consequential and transitional matters arising from the enactment of the Sugar Research and Development Services Act 2013, and for related purposes.

 Message no. 712, dated 19 June 2013—A Bill for an Act relating to levy imposed on sugar cane, and for related purposes.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence (Senator Feeney) moved—That these bills may proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now read a first time.

Explanatory memoranda: Senator Feeney tabled a replacement explanatory memorandum relating to the Sugar Research and Development Services Bill 2013 and a revised explanatory memorandum relating to the Sugar Research and Development Services (Consequential Amendments and Transitional Provisions) Bill 2013.

Consideration of legislation: Pursuant to order, the debate was adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for the first day in the next period of sittings.
