Taxation—Minerals Resource Rent Tax—Proposed censure: The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Abetz), by leave, moved—That the Senate declares that it has no confidence in the Government's handling of the mining tax.

Debate ensued.

The Leader of the Australian Greens (Senator Milne) moved the following amendment:

 Omit all words after "That", substitute "the Senate condemns the Government's failure to put in place a mining tax which raises sufficient revenue from the big miners to fund Australia's long-term needs".
