DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE—TAXATION—CARBON TAX

The Acting Deputy President (Senator Crossin) informed the Senate that Senator Fifield had proposed that the following matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion:

 The growing evidence of the effects of the Gillard Government's carbon tax on the viability of small business.

The proposal was supported by four senators and the matter was discussed.
