ENVIRONMENT—GREAT BARRIER REEF WORLD HERITAGE AREA

Senator Waters, pursuant to notice of motion not objected to as a formal motion, moved general business notice of motion no. 550—That the Senate calls for all applications and approvals made under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 which would have a significant impact on the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area to be suspended until the conclusion of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization requested strategic assessment, to allow consideration of all cumulative impacts of coal and coal seam gas ports and other developments on this internationally-significant biodiversity icon.
