DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE—ANIMAL WELFARE—INDONESIA—LIVE CATTLE EXPORTS

The Deputy President (Senator Parry) informed the Senate that Senator Fifield had proposed that the following matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion:

 The Gillard Government's decimation of the live cattle trade to Indonesia and the catastrophic consequences for family farms and supporting businesses.

The proposal was supported by four senators and the matter was discussed.
