The Acting Deputy President (Senator Pratt) informed the Senate that the President had received a letter requesting changes in the membership of a committee.

The Parliamentary Secretary for School Education and Workplace Relations (Senator Collins), by leave, moved—That Senator Bob Brown replace Senator Ludlam on the Environment and Communications References Committee for the committee's inquiry into the status, health and sustainability of the koala population, and Senator Ludlam be appointed as a participating member.

Question put and passed.

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported informing the Senate of changes in the membership of joint committees, as follows:

 Message no. 137, dated 10 May 2011—Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, Mr Secker in place of Mr Turnbull.

 Message no. 138, dated 10 May 2011—Joint Standing Committee on the National Broadband Network, Mr Neville appointed as a participating member.
