DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE—ENVIRONMENT—MURRAY-DARLING BASIN REFORM PROCESS

The President informed the Senate that Senator Fifield had proposed that the following matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion:

 The Gillard Government's failure to properly manage the Murray-Darling Basin reform process.

The proposal was supported by four senators and the matter was discussed.


Declaration of interest: The Leader of The Nationals in the Senate (Senator Joyce) declared an interest in relation to the matter under discussion.
