THREE BILLS—DECLARATION OF URGENCY—ALLOTMENT OF TIMEDeclaration of urgency: The Minister for Justice and Customs (Senator Ellison) declared the following bills to be urgent bills: Higher Education Support Amendment (Abolition of Compulsory Up-front Student Union Fees) Bill 2005 Health Legislation Amendment Bill 2005 Telecommunications (Interception) Amendment (Stored Communications and Other Measures) Bill 2005, and moved—That these bills be considered urgent bills. Proposed suspension of standing orders: The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Evans) pursuant to contingent notice, moved—That so much of standing order 142 be suspended as would prevent debate taking place on the motion.
