PETITIONS

The following 7 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received:

Senator Lewis, from 15 petitioners praying that the Senate vote against the Australian Bill of Rights Bill 1985, support Opposition amendments and seek genuine public debate and a referendum on the Bill.

Senator Reid, from 39 petitioners praying that the Senate oppose the introduction of a compulsory identification card; and that the Senate request the Government to take steps to prevent tax evasion and other fraudulent practices.

Senator West, from 70 petitioners praying that the Senate support the Australia Card Bill 1986.

Senators Robertson and Ryan, from 15 and 172 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate urge the Government to reconsider its position with regard to the landscaping of the New Parliament House.

Senator Morris, from 221 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to retain the Anzac Rifle Range in Malabar, NSW.

Senator Giles, from 18 petitioners praying that the decision to reduce the University of Western Australia's Student Loans Fund by 40 per cent be rescinded.
