Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of the Minister for Community Services (Senator Grimes)-That this Bill be now read a second time.

Senator Watson moved an amendment, viz: At end of motion, add "", but the Senate expresses its concern that the Government has not made alternative arrangements for replacing the funds normally generated for rural research from the activities, now to be phased out, of the Rural Credits Department of the Reserve Bank''.

Debate continued.
