Notices of Motion:

The Minister for Community Services (Senator Grimes): To move on the next day of sitting-That, in accordance with sub-section 49 (2) of the Audit Act 1901, the Senate approves the variation to the form of the Statement of Financial Transactions of the Commonwealth, presented to the Senate on 26 November 1986.

Senator Grimes, by leave, made a statement relating thereto.

Senator Kilgariff: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) in view of the Federal Government's intention to prohibit any mining in Kakadu National Park; and

(b) recognising that mining companies within the Park have been given undertakings, in the past, regarding their rights to explore and develop their interests,

calls upon the Federal Government to provide compensation for the actual and prospective losses which these companies will suffer if no mining is permitted within the area.

Intention to withdraw:

Senator Lewis, on behalf of the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances (Senator Cooney) and pursuant to Standing Order 109a, gave notice of Senator Cooney's intention, on the next day of sitting at giving of Notices, to withdraw Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 1 standing in Senator Cooney's name for the next day of sitting, for the disallowance of the Optometrists (Amendment) Ordinance 1986 (as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 51 of 1986).

Senator Lewis, by leave, made a statement relating thereto.

Papers: Senator Lewis, by leave, tabled the following Papers:

Regulations and Ordinances-Standing Committee-Copies of Letters (4) between the Chairman and Acting Chair (Senator Giles) and the Minister for Territories relating to the Optometrists (Amendment) Ordinance 1986, dated 3 October 1986 and 12, 25 and 26 November 1986.

Senator Reid, pursuant to Standing Order 109A, gave notice of her intention, on the next day of sitting at giving of Notices, to withdraw Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 2 standing in her name for the next day of sitting, and Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 1 standing in her name for 5 sitting days hence, for the disallowance of the Radiation (Amendment) Ordinance 1986 (as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 50 of 1986) and parts of the Advisory Council Ordinance 1986 (as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 62 of 1986), respectively.
