BOUNTY (BOOKS) BILL 1986

The Minister for Community Services (Senator Grimes), at the request of the Minister for Industry, Technology and Commerce (Senator Button) and pursuant to Notice of Motion not objected to as a Formal Motion, moved-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to provide for the payment of bounty on the production of certain books.

Question-put and passed.

Bill presented, and on the motion of Senator Grimes read a first time.

Suspension of Order of the Senate: Senator Grimes moved-That the Order of the Senate of 14 November 1986 relating to the introduction of Bills into the Senate after 19 November 1986, not apply to this Bill.

Suspension of Standing Orders to prevent delay: Senator Grimes, pursuant to contingent notice, moved-That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent the Bill being passed through its remaining stages without delay.

Senator Grimes moved-That this Bill be now read a second time.

Explanatory Memorandum: Senator Grimes tabled an Explanatory Memorandum relating to the Bill.
